As Jungwon had closed the door behind him, just for a short moment before the door closed completely he had heard a loud and deafening beep.

"What was that?" Soyeol's voice broke Jungwon out of his trance as he walked over and crouched down on the floor beside Hojin, leaning his back against the wall as he just stared at the door in front of him, "dad?"

"Sorry," Jungwon shook his head before looking over at Soyeol.

In that moment Jungwon could swear his daughter had never looked any more like her mother than she did in that very moment. He had always heard about how she looked so much like him, but right now... she looked like the carbon copy of her mom.

"Come here," Jungwon sighed and reached his hand out to pull Soyeol into him as Hojin and Yejun sat on the floor beside their dad. Soyeol slowly walked over to her dad who brought her closer to him.

"What?" Soyeol questioned in confusion as Jungwon just continued to stare up at her.

"You have your mom's eyes," Jungwon softly smiled up at her.

"But I look like you," Soyeol corrected and Jungwon just nodded at her.

"But you have her eyes, be proud of those," Jungwon pointed out and bopped her nose, "they bring comfort to so many people, to have eyes like yours. They're so special."

"Then lets go see mom's eyes... you like those," Soyeol happily smiled making Jungwon slowly shake his head at her, "no? But mom said I couldn't let you miss her, when she went away for some time."

"But Soyeol... you see..." Jungwon sighed before dropping his head down, "mom might be gone for longer than just some time right now."

"What are you saying?" Soyeol cocked her head to the side, "of course she'll be back soon! Mom always promises to come back quickly whenever she goes out!"

"What I'm saying Yeol-ie... is that mom didn't feel that good," Jungwon slowly explained to the girl who just stared at him with big eyes.

Jungwon let out a small sigh at the familiar big round eyes, he had fallen so deeply in love with so many years ago, before just looking down and pinching his nosebridge whilst letting out a shaky breath.

"Are you crying?" Soyeol carefully questioned as she softly patted her dad's head, "mom don't like when you're sad."

"I know," Jungwon muttered before he sucked in a deep breath before looking back up at Soyeol again, keeping in his tears for her, "the thing is, mom might not be coming back from where she is going."

"Oh..." Soyeol muttered as she looked down, "but she'll send us letters and gifts, still... right?"

"Everyday," Jungwon softly spoke as he just nodded at her, "now I'm gonna call grandma, so she can come pick you up. You three will go and celebrate Hojin and Yejun's birthday whilst I stay with mom, okay?"

"Tell mom I want her to come back home," Soyeol nodded at Jungwon who just softly smiled at her before calling his mom and explaining the situation to her.

The woman on the other line was distraught at the idea of her daughter-in-law possibly passing that very day, but she forced a bright smile on her face as she came to pick up the three kids, not forgetting to hug her son tightly.

"She has done so much, for so many people," his mom whispered, "sometimes the best people pass early, that's what makes them remembered as great people."

"I'm scared," Jungwon whispered to his mom as he just hugged her tighter, "I can't do this alone... I need her."

"I know my son... but maybe it's time for her," his mom softly spoke and caressed his cheek as she pulled away from him, "it'll be fine."

Jungwon quietly watched as his mom took the kids with him, leaving him alone in the long empty hallway. Not one nurse or the doctor had exited from Jiyeon's room, signalling to Jungwon there still might be a small hope she'll be just fine. But even if they got her back to life again, what were they then gonna do? They didn't know what was wrong with her.

"Are you mr Yang?" someone spoke making Jungwon turn his head to see a nurse standing in the door to Jiyeon's room.

"Yes," Jungwon immediately nodded.

"I suppose mrs. Choi is your wife?" the nurse continued and Jungwon just nodded, "I've just gotten her test results over our intercom... it seems that your wife will need a bone marrow transplant to get better."

"But is she alive?" Jungwon eagerly questioned.

"She is yeah... we ressurected her a few minutes ago, we've been working on getting her stable," the nurse nodded, "she is awake now."

"Can I go to her?" Jungwon questioned making the nurse sigh before he stepped to the side.

Jungwon quickly rushed in and up beside Jiyeon, moving through the group of nurses and doctors that stood around trying to get Jiyeon stable.

"Sir, we need you to move away so we can get her awake," a nurse spoke up, Jungwon just ignoring them.

Jungwon immediately grabbed ahold of Jiyeon's hand, it was already cold, he quickly cupped her cheek in his other hand, looking down at her with a desperate look. She already looked dead, but the machines around her and the hoarse shallow breathing that she emitted said otherwise.

"Hey... I'm here, I'm here," Jungwon hurriedly whispered to Jiyeon, tugging her blanket closer around her, before sitting down on the edge of the bed, "I'm here... you can wake up now."

Jungwon sat in silence for a few minutes holding tightly onto Jiyeon's hand and rubbing a thumb over her cheek softly muttering "I'm here"s to her. He was quietly praying for her to wake up, completely ignoring the nurses and doctors that had to work around him to get Jiyeon more stable.

"Please wake up... please..." Jungwon muttered before a defeaning beep sounded out in the room again, "NO!"

Jungwon's eyes immediately began spilling tears as he screamed out refusal after refusal, yelling for Jiyeon to wake up once again.

"Sir... I'm afraid we can't do more for her any-" a nurse started making Jungwon just wave them off.

It seemed that the nurses and doctors all understood the situation and quickly excused themselves from the room.

Jungwon immediately fell down over Jiyeon as he heard the door close. He held tightly onto her as he just sobbed and cried into her shoulder, begging for her to open her eyes again.

Nothing happened, only Jungwon's sobs echoed in the room, as he could feel Jiyeon grow colder and colder under him. He immediately sat up straight and desperately tried to warm up her body by rubbing her arms and hands, cupping her cheeks. Barely even able to see through his tears.

"You promised you'll grow old with me... you promised!"

Jungwon continued to breathe heavily as he sniffed his way through the worst of his tears. Once he had settled down a bit in his crying he sat down on the edge of Jiyeon's bed, holding tightly onto her hand as he stroked her hair softly.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine... you make me happy when skies are grey..." Jungwon quietly began singing the same song he had heard Jiyeon sing to their kids when she put them to bed, "you'll never know dear, how much I love you... please don't take my sunshine away..."
