Even though he had been told he wasn't allowed to, Jungwon had still crawled up into the bed Jiyeon laid in. Bring her head up to lay on his chest as he sat leaned against the wall behind him. One hand he used to either hold onto her shoulder or run a hand through her hair, whilst the other was holding a napkin tight for anytime the tears would roll down his cheeks.
Jiyeon was still to wakeup from whatever they had used to calm her down back in the entrance hall. He knew they had caused a scene, but that was the least thing he had worried about at the moment. He had wanted to go with her so badly, to hold her hand or hold her in his arms. Especially after he had seen how scared she was, but he knew he could do nothing. He was absolutely powerless.
"It's gonna be fine, I promise," Jungwon muttered before closing his eyes and leaning his head back against the wall behind him.
He didn't get to sit and think to himself for long before he felt something clutch his shirt tightly, making him look down at Jiyeon, whose fist was holding tightly onto his shirt.
"W-won," she muttered making Jungwon immediately rub her arm up and down.
"I'm here... I'm here now," he quietly whispered down to her making her let out a small hum before closing her eyes tightly, "I promise I'm not leaving again."
"What happened?" she muttered and raised a hand to her eyes. The only thing she remembers is how she had panicked in the entrance hall before everything had been going black, "where are we? Still at the hospital?"
"Yeah," Jungwon hummed, "remember last time we were here? When Soyeol was born?"
"You were so scared to hold her," Jiyeon commented with a small smile and dropped her hand back to where it laid moments before, "how don't you think you'll be when this one finally comes out?"
"About that," Jungwon sucked in a deep breath, knowing very well he was about to be the villain, "do you remember why we're here?"
"Yeah... I was bleeding," Jiyeon nodded with a tired look on her face before her eyes widened and she immediately sat up and looked at him with wide eyes, "I was bleeding. Holy shit. I was bleeding. What happened? Is the baby alright? I don't remember anything!"
The moment she had looked at his face, how red and puffy his eyes were and how the tip of his nose was all red, including the napkin tightly in his hand. She knew. She knew immediately. She halted in her movements as she just stared at his face, making him slowly nod, as if he knew what she was thinking off.
"Oh Wonie," she cooed out and cupped his face immediately drying his cheeks with the napkin he had held himself, "I'm so so sorry. I tried. I really tried."
"Don't," he shook his head at her making her frown at him, "I know this hurts you more than me. Don't act as if you're alright."
"I'm... I'm fine," she assured with a nod.
"No... you're not. I can see it in your eyes," he pointed out to her making her face falter immediately, "it's gonna hurt more if you pretend you're alright."
"I tried... I really tried," she whimpered before Jungwon reached out and pulled her back down onto his chest.
He held her close into him as he could hear her sobs continue to echo out in the room. If it was her cries or the loss of the baby that hurt him the most, he wasn't even sure of anymore. But he knew he ended up crying with her as well, trying to surpress his sobs each time he could feel one move up in his throat.
"Just cry for fuck sake," Jiyeon hit his chest making him let out a pained laugh before letting out a sob and wrapping his other arm around her. She knew damn well he had been sitting and tried to hide his sobs.
"You can't curse," he reminded her as she just tightened her grip around him.
Jiyeon let out a small sigh before sucking in a deep breath, moving up so her face rested in the crook of his neck. She carefully reached up and lowered Jungwon's head to the crook of her neck as well, making him just cry even harder.
"I'm so sorry," Jungwon whimpered against Jiyeon's neck making her let out a sob at the tone of his voice.
"It's not your fault," she shook her head at him and patted the back of his head, "it's not your fault."
"I should've been there. I should've been there so much more than I was," he continued, completely ignoring anything Jiyeon said to him, "had I been a bit more insisting on you going to the doctor fast as possible it wouldn't have happened. We wouldn't be sitting here right now. Another wonderful baby would be moving in with us in six months and Soyeol would've been so happy to see a little brother or sister."
"Won," Jiyeon called out making him hum at her as he continued crying in the crook of her neck, "I'm sorry."
"No, no, no, no," Jungwon shook his head.
"I knew my body wasn't strong enough for another one yet," Jiyeon continued making Jungwon tighten his grip around her waist, "I should've insisted we waited for longer. I knew it would go wrong. I just knew it. I should've told you. It's my fault."
"Stop it," Jungwon muttered.
Somehow Jungwon managed to pull himself a bit together and lifted his head from Jiyeons shoulder, before cupping her face in his hands, kissing away the tears that had rolled down from her red and puffy eyes.
"Listen to me right now," Jungwon muttered and leaned his forehead against hers, using his thumbs to wipe away the tears that continue to fall from her eyes. Not minding the ones that continued to fall from his.
"You're still crying," Jiyeon muttered and used her sleeve to wipe his cheeks.
"Hey, look at me," Jungwon softly spoke making her drop her arms and look over at his red eyes, "I'm sure that if we decide we want to try again, that we'll get twins. You know why?"
"Why?" Jiyeon muttered and Jungwon brushed her hair out of her face before leaning her forehead against his.
"Because, we lost one. That means, right now... right now wasn't the time for us to get another kid. But when it is time for us to get more kids, the world will make up for this sorrow," he assured her and rubbed her cheeks with his thumbs, "I promise you that. And if it doesn't happen, you can leave me."
"I don't want more kids," Jiyeon shook her head at him, "I can't do this again."
"I know," Jungwon hummed, "but lets just... have Soyeol for now. I know it was too close to her birth that you got pregnant again. But just know... I'll give you all the time you need. Whether that be a year or ten."
"I can't do this anymore," Jiyeon shook her head once again, "I just can't."
"Okay," Jungwon nodded before quickly using one hand to dry his own eyes, "I'll take some time off and we'll use a long time helping each other through this, okay?"
"Yeah," Jiyeon breathed out as Jungwon reached down and grabbed her hand tightly.
"This is not any of our fault, and we'll move on from this... I promise," he assured her, "I don't like seeing you like this... or feeling like this."
"We'll be fine," Jiyeon nodded in agreement letting out a deep sigh and looking up towards the ceiling to stop her tears from rolling down her cheeks.
"It's alright to cry," Jungwon tried to laugh it off making Jiyeon simply shake her head.
"I'm gonna dehydrate if I continue like this," she stated making Jungwon let out a soft laugh, despite how much he was hurting.
"Now... what is it that we do best?" Jungwon questioned and gave her hand a small squeeze.
"Bicker," Jiyeon replied with no hesitation.
"Besides that?" Jungwon clarified making Jiyeon shrug, "cheer each other up. We'll get through this together."
"Promise?"
"Always."
