"Do you really want to stay in Manila na?" Azie's Mom asked her for the nth time.
"Yes Mom. I want to explore new surroundings." Azie said with a small smile. "And para rin mapahinga po kahit papaano yung utak ko." she added. She even chuckled bitterly. Her Mom just apologized to her.
Nang sabihin ni Azie na gusto niyang mapahinga ang utak niya, what she meant is her mental health. Masyado nang nagugulo ang utak niya ng nasa paligid niya. Hindi na rin niya minsan mapigilan ang emosyon niya so she sometimes ended up breaking down.
It's hard for Azie to be away from her parents but this is the only way she thinks to get her piece of mind.
At her age fifteen, kung ano-ano nalang ang nasasabi sakaniya, not just to her but to her family. At ang masaklap pa, kamag-anak lang nila ang nagsasabi ng ganon sakanila.
Nanahimik nalang siya, nagkukunwaring walang naririnig, kunwari ay wala lang iyon sakaniya. Pero tao lang siya, napapagod. Azie is tired, she's so sick hearing words from her relatives. And the only way para mangyari iyon ay kung may isang lalayo. And she decided na siya nalang.
Siya lang ang lumayo. Azie asked her parents if she can stay in Manila where her Tita lives. Madali nalang na pumayag ang parents niya. Pati ang Tita niya, madali nalang na pumayag. Her Tita is actually happy nang sabihin niya na pupunta na siya ng Manila dahil noon pa man ay binigyan na siya nito ng offer na doon mag-aral.
Unlike her relatives from Bicol which is on her Mother's side, napakabait ng kamag-anak niya sa Father's side niya. Doon, matatahimik siya.
That's why she decided to separate herself from her parents temporarily.
"This will be you room baby" Azie's Tita said. Nakarating na siya sa Manila at nandito na siya sa bahay ng Tita niya. Her Tita called her baby dahil siya ang pinaka-paborito nitong pamangkin at anak na rin ang turing nito sakaniya dahil wala naman itong sariling anak, besides fifteen pa lang naman siya kaya hinahayaan nalang niya na baby ang tawag sakaniya.
From that, sa Manila na siya tumira at nag-aral, hanggang sa tumagal. Yung parents niya sa Bicol ay binibisita siya buwan-buwan. Pero minsan kapag bakasyon siya at walang pasok ay siya ang bumibisita sa Bicol pero hindi siya tumatagal doon. She will only stay there for two or three days and after that, she will go back to Manila.
But during those times, even when she finally have her peace of mind. Meron pa rin siyang hinahanap, something is still missing. And it took her years to finally realize it.
