I nearly plowed Hinata over as we burst from the apartment, confusion and anxiety only spiking that Naruto had thought it was necessary to grab her as well.

"Do you know what's going on?" I asked quickly.

She shook her head as we began running after Naruto, who had already wordlessly taken off, "He just babbled incoherently at me. I'm as lost as you are."

"Dammit." Sasuke bit out as we followed his teammate in what seemed to be the direction of the front gates, "He can't just handle something right, can he?"

"Don't judge him yet." Shino recommended, "We don't know what's..."

He dropped off as Izumi unexpectedly over took us, running faster than I'd ever seen him. Any consideration as to what he knew came to a screeching halt when a familiar smell hit me. Akamaru gave me a growl of agreement, and, sure enough, standing at the fork in the road before we would turn to arrive at the front gates was Neji Hyuga.

He turned around in surprise when Izumi called out, reacting just in time to catch the boy who had flung himself at him. Izumi latched onto Neji like a monkey, arms around his neck and legs around his waist like he'd never let go again.

"I-is it-? Y-you're-" Izumi panted out, already in hysterics.

Neji needed only a moment to process what had just happened before he hugged Izumi back tightly, "Yes, yes, cielito, I-"

Izumi lifted his head from Neji's shoulder and promptly kissed him, all words quickly leaving Neji's mind.

Hinata ran to catch up to them, smiling brightly as tears welled in her eyes, me only a few steps behind her. Holy shit, Neji was back! And safe too!

Izumi pulled back, "I-I missed you so much! B-but look at you!" he laughed through his tears, "You look so happy and peaceful! I'm so proud of you, and- and- you better never leave me again!"

"No, no," Neji held his head to his shoulder, "Never, I'm never leaving again. From now on, it's you and me, forever. I promise."

"I love you." Izumi whimpered.

"Do you know how much I missed you?" Neji smiled softly, "I thought about you every night, every time I saw a beautiful flower or heard a bird call in the morning." Jesus, what did Izumi do to this guy to make him this romantic?

"B-but," Izumi lifted his head back up sniffing, "It's not just going to be us, remember?" he then looked back at Hinata, who slowly walked up. Oh God, wait.

Neji carefully set Izumi down, holding out his arms for Hinata who ran to meet him, "There you are." he sighed, almost relieved, "They haven't run you ragged have they?"

"Not quite yet." she wiped her eyes, smiling up at him, "But there have been some new... developments." Why was she bringing this up now?

Neji looked up at me, but instead of fury, or even a question as to what she meant now that I thought about it, he simply held an arm out, "Don't look so scared." his smile held a hint of a tease.

I carefully made my way over into the hug really confused at how he somehow seemed to know what was going on and wasn't angry about it. Akamaru, though, was happy enough to circle us.

"I'm an uncle, hm?" he frowned at me, "You really couldn't help yourself."

I was about to come up with some excuse, but Sasuke walked up to us with a bemused scowl, "Not that this isn't cute and all that, and I'm really happy you're safe and all that dude," he directed at Neji before shifting his eyes to Naruto, "But why are you freaking out?"
