The Young Justice team had a full week off of school and missions— which could only mean one thing.

Beach day.

For the most part, everyone was absolutely ecstatic. Wally was literally buzzing with excitement, Superboy, for once in his life, didn't look like he wanted to punch a wall and/or somebody's face, Megan was making sandwiches and cookies for a picnic that she absolutely couldn't wait for, Artemis was braiding her golden hair and fawning over her new one-piece swim-suit, Kaldur was forcing Artemis and Wally to apply sunscreen (mom-friend as always), and Robin... well, Robin was trying to figure out which hoodie would go best with his jeans.

Because under no circumstances could Robin show his skin. It was... horrendous. Nearly every villain in Gotham had left their signature somewhere on the boy's body. There were stabbing marks, gunshot wounds, burned skinned. If you can name the method of torture or pain, it's visible on the thirteen-year-old's body.

It wasn't so much that Robin was wanting to hide his scars from his team. He just didn't want them to think of him differently. He didn't want to become a weak, little baby that needed them to take care of him. And if they saw the markings on his body, that's exactly what they'd think.

"Hurry up and change, Rob!" Wally exclaimed. "We're all ready to go!"

Robin smiled sheepishly, "I am changed."

The team all stared at their youngest member.

"Dude... I dunno if you're aware, but you're wearing winter clothing," Wally stated slowly. "We're going to the beach."

Robin laughed, "Yeah, I know, Walls. This is what I'm wearing to the beach."

Wally was about to argue some more, but Kaldur decided to show Robin some mercy.

"If this is what Robin wishes to wear, then it is not our place to question it."

Wally didn't seem pleased with this but huffed and mumbled something along the lines of 'I won't be carrying him back up here when he has a heat stroke.'

With that, the team grabbed their things and started down towards the beach. The youngest three members raced and were there in mere seconds, the older three trailing behind a couple minutes later.

The second the umbrella and towels were appropriately placed in the sand, Wally, Artemis, and Kaldur were in the water, splashing around (well, Kaldur was supervising Wally and Artemis trying to drown each other). Robin, Megan, and Conner remained on the sand (Robin for obvious reasons and the other two because Megan wanted to read and Conner didn't want to leave her side).

After an hour or so of this, Artemis evidently got a headache and forced Wally to come back up to the shore with her to take some medicine that Kaldur had been smart enough to make them pack (he knew his teammates well). Even after she'd taken the pill, though, Artemis still didn't want to go back into the water— much to Wally's dismay. He turned to his boyfriend with a pouty face.

"Rob, will you please come swim with me? Kaldur just wants to sit completely submerged in the water and I don't have the lung capacity for that!"
