i got my driver's license last week
just like we always talked about

A loud ding, ding, ding echoed through an expensive car as Richard John Grayson climbed into the drivers seat. He couldn't help the tears that stung the back of his eyes as he thought about him. About the boy that was supposed to be there driving with him. The boy that said he'd always be there for Dick no matter what.

Wally.

But Wally wasn't there. Wally had lied. He'd left Dick alone when he swore he wouldn't. And Dick still wasn't over it.

Dick could picture the boyish grin on his ex-boyfriend's face. The way the redhead had absolutely lit up at hearing Dick was finally getting his license. God, he'd been so excited. 'You'll be able to get to Central so fast!' he'd said, temporarily forgetting that he could get to Gotham himself in mere seconds.
Dick always loved it when Wally did that... getting so excited that he forgets even the simplest of things. The blue-eyed boy used to think it was cute... and he'd be lying if he said he still doesn't...

but today i drove through the suburbs
crying 'cause you weren't around

The sad truth was, whatever Wally did— no matter how much fucking pain he caused Dick— Dick would still love him. Because, well, it was Wally! It was his little, redhead best friend! How could Dick hate him...? It was just... impossible.

But how could he pick her? How could Wally just throw away everything he and Dick had for Artemis Crock? She never even liked him! It was always mockery and fighting! But she was the one he gave his heart to?! After everything Wally and Dick went through together?! How was that fair? How could Wally just get to be so happy and content when Dick was so fucking miserable?

But, then, how could he not pick her? I mean... she could steal your heart with just one look. She was gorgeous, funny, independent, and, best of all, better. She was better than Dick. She was older, more mature, more beautiful. How could Dick even compare?
