"Wally, hurry up!" Dick exclaimed, musical laughter erupting from his chapped lips as he raced towards the biggest rollercoaster in the theme park.

The bird's best friend chased after him, a joyous look on his face. God, Wally's smile made Dick's heart race...
All the young superhero could do was stop and stare, wishing the owner of that smile could belong to him...

"You okay, Dickie?" Wally asked, snapping his fingers in front of his friend's face, pulling him back to reality.

Dick cleared his throat, looking away so Wally couldn't see the tears forming in his eyes. "Yeah- yeah, I'm great, dude! C'mon, let's go before the line gets any longer!"

Wally nodded, a wide grin on his face as he grabbed Dick's arm and dragged him towards the large coaster. And, boy, to say the line was long would be an understatement...

Over an hour stuck in line with Wally... Dick didn't know whether that was the best or worst thing to ever happen to him...

Nearly half an hour had passed when Dick began shivering, the December cold finally getting to him. He wrapped his arms around himself, wishing he'd been smart enough to bring a jacket.

Wally noticed this and did something Dick would remember for the rest of his life. He removed his letterman and wrapped it around Dick's shoulders, murmuring something about how the bird's brothers would absolutely kill him if he let Dick get sick.

Just as Dick was about to open his mouth to say something— to say... anything— Wally's phone buzzed, indicating an incoming video call.
His face absolutely lit up as he saw the caller ID.

"Arty!" Wally exclaimed with a wide smile as he accepted the facetime.

what a sight for sore eyes

"Hey, babe," Artemis smiled that picture perfect smile. "I was just checking in to make sure you and 'Wing haven't gotten yourselves into too much trouble..."

Wally grinned over at Dick, "Not yet." He returned his gaze to Artemis, completely missing Dick's heart breaking right before his eyes. "Say, why don't you come join us?! You could probably be here before we even get on this ride!"

Artemis looked hesitant, glancing over at Dick.
Wally may have been oblivious, but Arty certainly wasn't... She knew what was going on and she knew how much Dick was hurting. She just didn't know what to do about it...

"I dunno if that's such a good idea, Walls. I mean- it's your boys day out. I'd just ruin it..."

"Aw, c'mon, babe!" Wally pleaded, giving his girlfriend his best pout. "You could never ruin anything! You only make it better!" He glanced over at his best friend, "Right, Dickie?!"
