Damian stood on the West-Grayson's doormat after knocking the appropriate three times and awaited an answer. It was nearly seven o'clock, so, surely, they would be home-- especially considering the new child they'd just adopted.

If Damian was being honest, he wasn't exactly thrilled with this new creature infesting Grayson's apartment. It was taking far too much of his attention. So much so that Grayson hardly ever visited the Manor anymore. How was that fair? Damian was there first, not this little... thing.

Damian let out a loud sigh upon coming to the conclusion that the door would not be opened for him. So, instead, he would break in. Letting out a quiet Tt-, Damian calmly picked the lock and swung the door open. The only light seeping into the apartment was the dimming sunlight shining in from the large windows on the west side of the apartment.

Letting out a curious hum to himself, Damian began walking around in search of his brother and his brother's pets-- only to find them all piled on the couch fast asleep.

"Tt-" Damian tutted, pursing his lips as he walked closer to the trio. Wallace seemed to the on the bottom of the pile, Grayson and the gremlin laying on top of him.

Damian took a moment to study the little thing. He supposed it was... cute. But was it cute enough to warrant a complete abandonment of Grayson's old family-- his first family? That just didn't seem right.

However, at that moment, the small child let out a sweet little coo, making even Damian's heart melt a bit. Okay, so the kid was very cute. So, what? That didn't change anything. Grayson still needed to be spending more time with Damian.

But, then, the little gremlin just had to open it's big, blue eyes and look up at Damian with what must've been the most innocent expression on Earth. She made grabby hands up at him, not a hint of fear anywhere on her face. She knew Damian wouldn't hurt her. Either that or she was already a vigilante before she could even walk.

Damian let out a soft hum as he lifted the child and placed her close to his chest. Her tiny hand grabbed a fistful of his shirt and held it tightly. He wasn't sure he liked that at first, but it soon grew on him. This little child was trusting him to take care of her-- even when she must've been the most fragile thing in the universe.

"Perhaps you are not so terrible," Damian contemplated quietly, bouncing the infant gently as she buried her head into Damian's shirt. "I suppose you will need a good role model growing up. Obviously, Todd and Drake will not do. It'll just have to be me. You're lucky I have a season pass to the zoo or this deal wouldn't work." The teen exhaled softly, heart hurting a bit as he carefully laid the child back down on her father's chest. He would have to make a note to come visit his niece more often.

After carefully placing a blanket over the new family, Damian turned, hands placed behind his back, and left. Little did he know, Dick had been awake and watching the entire time and was most definitely going to use this as blackmail.

a/n: lol first of all, i know my updating schedule sucks. it's been like- nearly an entire week. i'm sorry guys :(

idk if i have any fellow texans here, but at the end of every school year (3rd grade and up) we have to take these monster tests for most of our core classes. some of them even dictate whether you get to move up to the next grade or not. unfortunately, i have a biology one to take this year and i suck at biology loll so i really need to be focusing on that and my other tests. i have to pass them or i'll have to 1) take them again or 2) take the class again and i do not want that-
so yeah fuck the STAAR test :)

with that said, updates are gonna start being a lil slow until i get those tests done. i apologize and i promiseee i'm gonna try to update whenever i can. i know a lot of you have requests that you're waiting on.
