I rest beside a brook, dangling my feet in the cool water as I take a bite of some onigiri I had packed for the trip. I look at my reflection in the water, scanning my lifeless green eyes. I didn't feel like me anymore, the clothes on my body not my own. Even my exspression was blank, my eyebrows even and eyes blank. It reminded me of my time in the Anbu, as a captain. During missions, I was as ruthless and robotic as any good soldier out on the field. I didn't feel and that is how I got myself through the assassinations. That's how I'm going to get through this now. Orochimaru, he killed my father. But he may be the only one who can help me with my eyes. I have no one else to turn to, no one else for answers.
My hands brushed against a kunai in my pocket and I bring it out, balancing it on my fingertip. I watch as it steadies itself. My hair flutters in the wind and I watch as my light brown locks lift into the air.
"A kunoichi promise for change..." I grab my hair into my fist, holding it form as I raise my kunai to it. "I will find answers, for all my questions. Obito and my eyes."
With one clean swipe, I chop off my hair. The loose pieces scatter around me and the rest rests just above my shoulder. I ruffle it with a quick motion, evening any messed up lengths and adding some layers so it looked good. Now I don't have to pull it up so often, because it was shot enough to stay out of my way. I watch as the pieces float down the stream, disappearing into the water and rocks. I let out a small sigh and stuff my mask into my bag, standing out and making my way further into the forest. There's no more delaying this, not any more.

"..." I come across a couple of trees and spot someone sitting underneath one. "Yakushi Kabuto."
"Ah, Sarutobi-sama." He stands up, smiling at me as he adjusts his glasses. "I've been exspecting you."
"I hope I haven't been keeping you for too long." I tell him, using the same fake tone as we share a look of understanding. He gives me a half smile, shaking his head.
"It is fine, but let's not keep Lord Orochimaru waiting." Kabuto tells me, leading me further into the forest. "We have a temporary safe house here."
"Temporary?" I ask, keeping my exspression blank as he pushes through some undergrowth.
"Yes, we will be gone by tomorrow or the next day." He answers vaguely, not falling into my trick for information. I nod as my eyes scan our surroundings.
"Has Sasuke arrived safely?"
"Uchiha Sasuke is healing from a fight with Uzumaki Naruto. He is in a medical induced coma for the time being." Kabuto says nonchalantly, and I contain my shock. Naruto?
"Naruto resisted against his departure and Sasuke pushed him further by telling him of your departure as well." He continues, glancing at me as he runs. "That must have been a couple days ago."
"That's unfortunate." I force out, worry thick in my chest. I hope that they both are okay...
"...Yes..." Kabuto nods, coming up to a house that sat against a cave system. He opens the door for me, bowing his head politely as I walk past. I keep my chin up, eyes scanning the darkness for Orochimaru. I see his eyes gleaming in the corner, making my blood run hot with anger for a second.
"Good afternoon, Orochimaru." I say, crossing my arms infront of me as my eyes adjust to the darkness. "You've been exspecting me?"
"Yes..." He lengthens the s sound as he grins, sitting in his chair with his arms limp at his sides. A rush of happiness goes through me when I realize that they were still paralyzed from Dad's justu. "How have you been, little one?"
"I have been well." I keep my face even as he scans it, which makes him smile even wider. He could sense my lie, but I couldn't bring myself to say the truth.
"Have you come to learn about your gift?" He asks, head tilting slightly as he questions me. "What are you willing to do in return?"
"I won't tear you apart." I say through my teeth, nose flaring slight in anger. This makes Orochimaru laugh and lift his chin in the air.
"You are dismissed, Kabuto." He says, "Allow Himiko and I to catch up."
"Yes, sir." Kabuto leaves without a complaint and I sit on a chair a distance away without a word.
"You've cut your hair."
"It was getting in my way." I say, running a hand through it as I push it from my eyes. Orochimaru takes this moment to speak next.
"I take it you still have my blade in your possession?"
"You won't be getting it back."
"How about you and Kakashi? Was he okay with you leaving the village?" Orochimaru asks, pressing my buttons the way he knew how to. "You two seemed so close, training in the forest together as adults the same way you would as children."
"What I do with my life is none of his concern." The words felt wrong in my mouth, but I say them anyway. On a different note, it didn't surprise me at all the Orochimaru was stalking me while I was training with Kakashi. I'd always just assumed it was just Kakashi and I.
"That's unfortunate. Naruto has left the village to train with Jiraiya and Sakura is going to be out under Tsunade... Kakashi is going to be all on his own. Alone." Orochimaru scans my face, seeing the pain that flashed in my eyes.
"..." I didn't know how to respond, and he smiles widely whenever he realizes that he'd beat me.
"Well, that is neither here nor there. You're here for information on you sight, and I am curious as well. Knowledge is payment enough." Orochimaru says, changing the subject once he knows he'd won. "Now, answer a few questions for me."
"Fine." I lean back in my chair and wait for him to start.
"When was the first time you had a vision?"
"As you already know, when I was a toddler. Probably around two."
"What did you see?"
"The deaths of an Anbu squad that was sent on a mission the night before."
"How long were you blind after?"
"A week or so." I answer, trying to remember. "It was a longer vision."
"Was your dream the first time you'd ever saw the past?" He asks, mentally taking notes. "The night during the Chūnin exams, that is."
"Yes, I dreamt about Obito's survival of the rocks and his rehabilitation. Then I had another dream a day or so after, and I watched, in 3rd person, as Kakashi and Rin were attacked by Kiri nin. I was unconsciousness at the time, but after Kakashi passed out, someone saved us. It..." I pause, glancing at my fingers that were tight around the hem of my cloak. "It was Obito again."
"What do you see before you have the dream?"
"I'm always in a hallway, with tatami mats and screens. It is dimly lit, and always smells like polishing oil." I say, easily picturing the place. "Whenever I walk to a door with a dream, the air gets colder the farther I walk down, and whenever I walk the other direction towards the present, it gets hotter." I watch as confusion fills his eyes.
"I can enter people's dreams, by opening their door in the hallway." I explain, catching him up. "I have visited Kakashi's and a man named Tobi's. I have gone in the present of both my father and Itachi by opening their doors as well."
"Could you open your father's door still?"
"It is sealed shut."
"How can you tell the difference between the doors?"
"Each one has a unique pattern and emotional feel." I shrug, not knowing how to explain. "I just touch the knob or the wood and I can sense who it is."
"Do you know of any side effects or repercussions?"
"At first I just had a really bad headache but now I don't feel anything. Even my blind period after my visions seem shorter." I tap my foot slightly as I recall, "I had a vision a yesterday and I could see whenever I woke up."
"Remarkable..." Orochimaru's eyes glow as he scans my body. "You're evolving."
"I don't understand why."
"Neither do I, my dear... Neither do I..." Orochimaru shrugs, with a huge cold smile.  "What a fine gift."
"Sure." I sigh, rolling my eyes as I run my fingers through my hair. "This was all just a waste of my time."
"How about I monitor your vitals while you sleep?" Orochimaru offers, "We can experiment some and have you try and get roughed up a bit to see how your body will react in real life."
"That is a good idea." I nod in agreement. "I bloodied my knee whenever I dreamed one time. I am going to need someone to knock me out."
"Kabuto will hook you up to a monitor and he will press on a pressure point." Orochimaru says, with Kabuto already pulling the equipment into the room. "Oh, he's already here."
"If you could hold still for a second..." I listen to Kabuto's instructions as he has me lay down. He draws different kanji on my skin and I adjust my back onto the table.
"What will this do?" I ask, eyes closed as he draws something onto my eyelids.
"This will allow us to see whatever you are seeing..." Kabuto says as he gently makes more marks. "I will also me monitoring you heart rate and brain activity, along with other things. This last mark will allow Lord Orochimaru to speak with you."
"What is the goal of this?"
"I would like to fully understand your experience, little one." Orochimaru says, finger tapping on his chin as he smiles at me. "I will direct you whenever Kabuto puts you under, so make sure to listen."
"Hai... You may begin, Kabuto." I close my eyes and wait for the light pressure to knock me out. It only took a second or two for me to slip into unconsciousness.

I open my eyes into the hallway and make sure to look around me.
"Are you getting this, Orochimaru?" I ask, adjusting my cloak on my shoulders. I wait for a response to come, but it never arrived. I frown slightly and call out to him again, but to no avail.
"I guess I'll just keep going then..." I sigh, walking down the hallway without a reason. I take note of the air temperature, which didn't change much as I find a turn in the hallway. I freeze, my feet frozen on the cold wooden floors. Not once has there been a turn in the hallway, it has always been a straight line. There was either dreams or present, those where the two choices I had to make. But now.... What was this?
"I guess I'll head down this way..." I glance around as the lightening grows dimmer the further I walk. I could barely see my nose whenever I caught the scent of blood. It was a copper smell with a sour sort of ting to it. I crinkle my nose and take a step forward, fingers brushing against the wall.
"Shit!" I quickly take my fingers away from the wall whenever I feel something wet. I look down at my finger tips, that were now stained crimson. My heart stops whenever I hear a door open, a slow creaking sound.
"W-Who's there?" I ask, cursing myself. Who the hell asks that? It could be some sort of demon for all I know...
"W-Who's there?" My voice echoes back, making the hairs on my neck stand on end. I cover my mouth and step towards the door, and the little light it provided.
"...Hello?" I call out again, feet barely moving forward as I try and fit my fear.
"...Hello?" It was my voice again, but I sounded years younger. Fear was clouding my maturity in my tone, both the voice coming from my mouth and the one coming from behind the door. I take another step, reaching for the doorknob to open it. As soon as my skin touches the metal, I gasp awake.

"Himiko! What happened?" Orochimaru asks, eyes wide as I try to catch my breath. "We lost you as soon as you went under. We didn't see a thing."
"...." I gasp for air as I look down at my hand, which was an angry red color. Burn marks covered my palm, from where I grabbed the door handle. My heart rate was raised and beating aster than it has in a while and my vision was foggy.
"Himiko, are you okay?"
"Can you hear us?"
"What happened?"
"... I..." I slide off of the table and push my hair out of my eyes with a shaky hand, not the burnt one. "I need to leave."
"But what happened? Did it work?" Orochimaru asks with raw curiosity in his eyes. "Did you make it to the hallway?"
"... No." I shake my head, pulling a letter out of my pocket and handing it to Kabuto. "Give the to Sasuke whenever he wakes up."
"Of course, Sarutobi-sama." Kabuto bows his head as I try and gain some sort of hold onto myself.
"I will send you a message if I plan to visit again..." I tell Orochimaru, without looking over my shoulder as I head to the door.
"See you again, little one." He calls after me, making my glare out into the woods that I was walking towards. Whether I like it or not, I was going to see him again. I will just make sure that next time I won't allow him to speak about Kakashi or anything along the lines of. It was hard to ignore that stomp to the heart before and I won't allow myself to be caught off guard again. This was my game he was playing in, and I won't allow him to win.
