I stretch in my sleeping bag, yawning sleepily as I blink in the darkness of the forest around me. My eyes scan the stone floor, searching for Tobi. He lay close to me, his back a few inches away from mine as he sleeps quietly. His shoulders move up and down slowly as he breathes steadily, orange mask still on as he rests. I scoot a little closer to him for warmth, my leg brushing against his on accident. His whole body tenses and I freeze, instantly closing my eyes and pretending to be asleep as I feel him sit up.
"Ugh..." My lips twitch when I hear his voice, not recognizing it as his own. It was many times deeper, not his light and happy voice. I quickly brush it off as just his sleepy tone, because he probably wasn't even fully awake right now. I listen to him shift closer to me, fingers brushing against the necklace dangling out of my shirt. I try to maintain my breathing as he examines it in the darkness, running his thumb on the Uchiha emblem. I'd never shown him the necklace, and he's never asked about it. He probably never even knew I had it on me.
"Hmm..." He hums quietly, laying back down on his back as he scoots closer to me. His hand finds mine and I make a sleepy noise, putting on the act that I was asleep. He tucks my body against him with a small chuckle, sound kind of muffled by his mask. I fall back asleep quickly in his arms, enjoying his body heat instead of the cold ground that seeped into my bones and flesh.

"Tobi..." I sit beside him once I woke up, shaking his shoulder lightly. The sun was just beginning to rise and it was almost time for us to start moving again. I'd already started to pack up our camp, now it's as time to wake him and finish. "Get up, broski."
"Not now..." My hands freeze on his shoulder, hearing him speak in a low voice again. He clears his throat, shaking his head. "Tobi wants to sleep longer!"
I instantly relax whenever I hear his normal tone. Whatever it was before, must have been just a strange throat thing that made him sound different. Like whenever you're about to cough and you're voice sounds deeper. I didn't think about it too much as I drag Tobi up and start to pack everything away to start and get a move on.

"Mai-chan... What do you call abused milk?" Tobi asks as we walk through the forest. It had been a couple of days since we've first started our journey and I was starting to get to understand Tobi a little more. He was just as chaotic as before, but I was also still able to deal with him and enjoy myself.
"I don't know, Tobi-kun." I smile, indulging him in his joke. "What do you call abused milk?"
"Butter!" He laughs at his joke and I chuckle, smiling under my mask.
"That's a good one... But what do you call neglected milk?" I ask, instantly intriguing him.
"Tobi doesn't know..." He looks at me, hand grabbing hold of mine. "What does Mai-chan call neglected milk?"
"Cheese." I instantly laugh at Tobi's deadpanned stare.
"Tobi doesn't understand." He says, confused as we walk under the trees.
"It's because of how you make cheese, leaving milk out to curtle." I exsplain, helping him step over a large root. "That's how you get cheese, if you leave it alone."
"..." Tobi breaks out into a loud laugh, making me smile larger. Even though we've been hunting down people for bounties, I've been enjoying myself a lot with Tobi. He was chaotic to say the least, but I knew how to support him. In a fight, I could back him up and he could do the same for me. He was a little sloppy, but, for a split second, I could see his actual skill. It was almost like everything was a game for him and he couldn't try his hardest to play.
"W-Who is next on the list, Mai-chan?" Tobi asks after he caught his breath, wiping his eyes under his mask. I pull the paper that I'd written out, scanniny through the marked out names. I'd made sure to only write down people I deemed evil, or have done terrible things in their lives. People I didn't mind sending away from this already evil world.
"There is Ganju Kira, who is an A ranked criminal with a past as a shinobi assassin." I read of his bio, specifically things I had underlined. "It says that he is wanted for various offenses, such as theft, assault, murder, and even sexual assault."
"He touched a woman without her permission?" Tobi asks, voice showing a glimpse of anger.
"And men apparently." I say with a curt nod. "He is quoted on saying he doesn't discriminate."
"That's revolting." Tobi says, disgust clear in his tone. "Tobi wants to hunt this trash down and turn his corpse in for money."
"We just have to capture him and turn him in alive, Tobi." I say, nudging him with my elbow. "No killing him, we leave that to the collector."
"Hmm." Tobi pouts, but is easily sidetracked by a bunny and that passed across the path. "Aw! Cute!"
"It's a wittle wabbit." I coo, watching it's fluffy white cotton tail bounce out if sight. Tobi laughs at me words and we continue walking without any more talking about killing anyone. Which was a nice change if pace for me.
