I pull on some tight black pants, wrapping dark bandages tight around my ankles. I wear a simple netting shirt with a pitch black cloak, sure enough to keep me hidden. I leave my katana on it's stand, not taking it with me. I grab my bag and tuck the mask that I'd bought earlier into the bottom and set a spare shirt on top of it. I grab a couple of pictures of my team, Gai, Asuma, even Den. I carefully set them in a pocket and I realize that I'd left my old team photo from my room in my vest. I quickly dig it out and put it with the other photos. I pack some misc items, like personal care and random snacks.

I strap my weapons holster tight to my thigh, filled with kunai, shuriken, and all sorts of scrolls. Den watches me pack from my bed, tail thumping slowly against the mattress. I smile at him sadly, rubbing his ears as I walk past him to my nightstand.
"You're such a good boy, Raiden." I tell him, grabbing Obito's goggles. I carefully set them into the bag, zipping it up. "Let's go drop you off."
Den sits up, tilting his head in question.
"Aw, did you think you were coming with me?" I ask, smiling softly. "Sorry, Bubba. I can't risk you getting hurt."
The noise that Raiden made next was something I'd never heard him make after the couple months of me knowing him. He growled at me, ears flat against his head. His feet stood planted in my bed as he stood his ground. My eyes widen in shock, watching Raiden send me angry signals.
"I'm sorry, Raiden. I really am. I just need you to be safe." I say softly, walking to him. I kneel beside the bed, face level with his. "Besides, I need someone to look after Kakashi. You can do that for me. Can't you, Bubba? Can you look after Daddy?"
Den whines, pressing his face against mine. His eyes told me everything I'd already known.
"I want to look after you, Mama." His eyes tell me, in his puppy way. My heart melts and I kiss his furry face.
"I know you do, Raiden. I know." I pull my bag onto my back, holding my arms out to my puppy. "Let's go to Kakashi's and drop you off."
Den crawls into my arms, curling up against me. He huffs unhappily, but he lets me carry him none the less.

I took my time walking to Kakashi's apartment, stretching my time left with Raiden. I unlock the door, opening it with my foot. I blink as my eyes adjust to the darkness and I slide inside. I flick the light on in his living room and set Den on the ground. I close the door behind me and watch Den disappear down the hallway.
I take a deep breath, taking in the empty apartment around me. I made a good choice leaving tonight. Now that Kakashi is away on a mission, I can put a good amount of distance between us. His apartment was familiar to me now, the simple layout and tidy decorations. I walk to his coffee table, pulling out the note that I'd written previously.
I had explained the situation with Raiden and apologized multiple times. I sigh, placing it carefully on the table top. Hopefully he won't freak out or anything... But I know that's not likely.
I hear Raiden bark, making me instantly alert.

There's someone else here.

I lunge for the light and flick it off, blending into the darkness. I keep my breathing low, waiting for Den to make another noise. I hear a window slide open in Kakashi's room and I pull my hood up, eyes searching for an exit. My eyes land on a set of windows a couple feet away and I almost sigh in relief. I carefully step along the floor, not making any noise as I make my way towards my escape. I reach up and unlock the latch, hands shaking slightly with anticipation of getting caught. I hear Den's nails click along the floor as he happily prances on the hard wood, running in my direction. He's giving away my presence! My heart stops and my fingers freeze on the lock.

"What are you doing, Himiko?"

I don't turn around, letting my hands drop to my sides.
"Leaving." I tell him, fingers tapping against my thigh. Who would have known that my own dog sold me out?
"Through the window?" Kakashi asks, humor lining his voice. "I do have a door."
"Hmm. I must have forgotten." I say, dropping my eyes to the floor. I force myself to not look at him. If I were to see him, I don't think that I'd be able to leave. His eyes had some sort of control over me. "You didn't come in through the door."
"I appreciate the finesse of the art of window entry."
I hide my smile, shaking my head.
"Then you must appreciate the art of the window exit as well." I say, tuning around slowly. I keep my head low, eyes trained on the wooden floors. Kakashi doesn't reply, but I see him walk closer to me.
"Himiko..." He rests his fingertips on my chin, guiding me to look at him. His voice was low, careful. I let him lead me, but I avert my eyes. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." I curse silently, knowing that there was no way in hell that he'd believe me. He'll see right through me.
"Nothing?" He asks, standing close in front of me. I could basically feel his chest move as he breathes. "Why are you dropping Den off?"
"He missed you." I answer simply, eyes focused on the wall. I could feel his gaze on my face.
"Why are you wearing all black?"
"It makes me look thinner." At this, he laughs softly.
"You are beautiful in any color... But that doesn't explain that you're carrying a pouch full of weapons and a bag full of who knows what..." His tone turns serious, making my eyes flicker to his. Once I saw the look on his face, I couldn't look away.
