I stood in the dark forest, surrounded by my enemies. I couldn't see them, but I heard their breathing and felt them walking beside me. I try to keep pace, navigating through the woods without sight. They were quiet, silently leading me to their village. I try to gather myself on the journey, fist tightening on the hem of my shinobi net shirt. A roaring pain went through my arm, the one I'd previously cut, but I still kept my pressure on it. The pain helped clear my head.

A hand brushes against mine and I jump slightly, eyes flying to the general direction of the contact. A light finger tapped on my wrist, telling me who it was. Itachi. I relax instantly, lips twitching as I fight a smile of relief. I face Itachi for a second, showing him the ash grey of my eyes. I hear him suck in a small breath and his cloak brushes against me as he stands a little closer. He uses slight brushes of his clothing against mine to lead me, showing me where he was and were he was going. I don't let my body relax, even though I naturally feel comforted by his presence.  I may have Itachi with me, bit I am still among my enemies. I am not safe.

"This way, Mai."
We were in the village now, I would assume by the change from grass to stone. The village was still quiet and the scent of rain lingered in the air, whether it meant rain was to come or has already gone. I follow a deep voice, allowing it to lead me into a building. It was alluring, full of aothority and demanding attention. My breath hitches slightly as my feet drop in elevation and I almost fall down the stairs that seemed to appear from nowhere. I quickly recover, fixing my feet positioning. I could feel Itachi's eyes on the back of my head, watching me fake my sight. The floor becomes level again and I hear everyone come to a stop. I stop as well, listening intently for more movements or instructions.

"It is a very respectable how you delt with Kakuzu, Mai." The voice from before spoke again, coming from in front of me. I'm assuming he is the leader.
"Thank you." I bow my head slightly, facing his direction.
"I enjoyed watching your art as well." A new voice says, more boyish than the deep one. Excitement bubbles in his tone.
"My art?" I ask, tilting my head confused.
"Your exsplosions." He explains, a grin in his voice. "An interesting take on a few revolutionary ideas."
"Um... Thank you?" I bow slightly at him as well, a little confused about what he was talking about still.
"Shut up, Deidara." Another deep voice comes from my right. I hear him turn, facing the leader. "Am I excused? I have a project to work on."
"You may leave, Sasori." The leaders voice answers simply, but still impactful. The impatient man, Sasori, leaves the room quickly.

"We all should introduce ourselves, shouldn't we?" This voice was familiar, coming from right next to me. His hand rests on my shoulder and I came picture his pointed grin.
"My name is Hoshigaki Kisame. Nice to meet you, Mai." His grip tightens for a split second, telling me he knows who I am.
"Nice to meet you as well, Kisame-san."
"My name is Deidara." A hand took mine, shaking it in a friendly manor.
"She's not stupid, Deidara." The hand was ripped away and another familar voice spoke. "She has already heard your name."
"Stop ruining the fun, Kakuzu." Deidara pouts, frown in his voice.
"Nice to meet you, Deidara." I tell him, smiling slightly under my mask. "You as well, Kakuzu."
"I wouldn't call the meeting of you two very nice." A new male voice says, hand shaking mine. "My name is Hidan. May I ask you something?"
"As you wish." I tell him, tensing up a little.
"The only blood that was spilt was your own. You may have defeated Kakuzu, but he didn't bleed at all." Hidan points out, wonder seeping through his tone. "You wouldn't have been harmed if you wouldn't have cut yourself. Why did you do something like that?"
"I needed some of my blood for my jutsu." I tell him, shrugging. "It was one of my trump cards."
"It seemed to have worked perfectly, but what if you'd cut too deep?"
"Then I would probably bleed out." I tell him, shrugging again. What was with his questioning? Why does he care so much about my blood? "But I am skilled with my blade."
"So I have seen." Hidan lets go of my hand, backing away.
A pair of soft feminine hands replace his and I blink a little in shock.
"I am Konan." She says simply, hands disappearing as soon as the appeared.
"Nice to meet you, Konan." I tell her, nodding in her direction. New hands replaced hers, long fingers crossing through mine. He holds my hand tightly and I can feel his eyes trying to search mine.
"My name is Itachi Uchiha." His gentle voice says, fingers tighten even more. "It is nice to meet you. I hope you settle in well."
"As do I, Itachi-san." I tell him, smiling under my mask. "It is nice to meet you."
