I woke up with the worst hang over I'd had in forever. My head ached and my body didn't want to leave the bed. I tried to remember last night, but all I remember was Anko. The rest of the night was a blur, leading to my most recent dream walk. Kakashi's words swirl around in my head, weighing heavy in my chest. I groan, rolling into the floor. I land on something hard and fleshy, confusion the crap out of me.
"Ugh..." A make voice comes from under me.
"W-What the hell?!" I scramble off of him, clasping my chest in horror.
"It's just me, Himiko." I pause, scanning the face on the ground. His dark hair was a little messier than normal, but his goofy face was a distinct give away. I instantly relax, sighing.
"Geez, Gai.... I thought you were some man I'd picked up off the street." I laugh, my heart returning to it's normal beat. Gai smiles, giving me a thumbs up.
"Good morning to you, Himiko! May the light of Youth guild your day!"
"Same for you!" I return cheerfully, happy to see him. It was quite the shock seeing him here. "What happened last night, anyway? I don't remember anything... Did we...?" Gai blushes, quickly shaking his head.
"You were drinking with Anko and you ended up drinking too much. I'd happen to be walking by, so Anko had me take you home." Gai explains, pulling himself to his feet quickly. "You told me that you didn't want to be alone, so I slept on the floor next to you. I swear I didn't try anything." His serious tone makes me smile. He's such a gentleman. I kiss him on his cheek, smiling at him.
"Thank you, Gai. You're the best."
"I-It was nothing... Really..." He stutters, eyes wide. I chuckle, stretching my arms into the air.
"Hmm... I've got a lot of catching up to do. I need to stop by the hospital and check on Sasuke, visit Asuma and see how Den's doing, do some research..." I roll my shoulders, shaking away my headache. "Gai... Today, I will need to borrow some of your youth."
"You can have as much as you want! Here!" Gai gives me two thumbs up, posing dramatically. I quickly mirror him, grinning. We both had a rumpled, sleepy appearance, messy hair on both of our heads.
"That's just what I needed! Thank you, Gai!" I grin at him, bouncing on my heels. "With the Power of Youth, I shall make it through my day!"
"Of course! The Power of Youth!" Gai agrees, pumping his arms in the air. "Any great day starts with a great breakfast! Let's get some curry udon!"
"I'm going to pretend that's breakfast food and agree!" I laugh, shoving him out of my room. "I'm going to get dressed real fast!"
I close the door and open my closet. I grab a large Sarutobi sweatshirt and some shorts. I lay them on my bed and brush my hair and pull it into a bun. I change next and walk t the bathroom to finish my routine.
Whenever I get out, Gai stood next to the door, already dressed and ready to go.
"Did you run home or something?" I ask, opening the door and walking out. Gai nods, following next to me.
"It was a quick run, not even morning work out."
We make our way to the udon stall, already open around 10. I sit on a stool, Gai sliding next to me.
"Are you going to get the extra spicy curry?" I ask, looking at the menu. Gai nods enthusiastically.
"Of course! How about you?"
"Hmm..." I ponder my choices, tapping my chin. "I'll just get the fire curry too. It was really good last time."
"It's fantastic every time!" Gai beams at the chef, happiness basically shooting out of his butt. "We'll take two fire curry udon! Extra spicy, please!" The chef nods, quickly preparing our order. It felt like no time had passed whenever our meals were set in front of us. We yell our thanks, admiring the steaming bowls of noodles.
"Yum!" I smell the air, mouth watering at the spicy tingle that drift through the steam. Gai nods, taking a large bite. I copy him, the flaming hot noodles burning my mouth. I let out a contest sigh, taking another hungry bite. The feeling that my mouth was traveling through hell was addicting.
"This is so good!" I groan, closing my eyes.
"The best!" Gai agrees, moth full of udon. Ever time that Gai chooses what to eat, he always chooses something spicy. Curry anything was always his favorite, spicy curry that is. The more melt your face off, the better.
We continue our meal in a comfortable silence, exempt from noise of satisfaction and slurps of the delicious noodles. Once I finish, I lean back and take a deep, content, breath.
"That really hit the spot." I smile at Gai. "What a great way to start the day."
"Yeah, the best." Gai says, placing money on the counter. I slide off the stool, stretching.
"Now I'm off to visit my partner and kid. Thanks for spending some time with me, Gai. I miss hanging out with you."
"I miss hanging out with you too. You should come train with the team and I some time. Neji keeps asking when you'll stop by. He's wanting to test his rotation on you." Gai says, a fond smile on his face. "He thinks that his move is fast enough to nagate your speed."
"The ideas intriguing... I'll have to stop by and test it out. In the men time, tell Neji and Ten Ten I miss them." I say, smiling, "I've got to get going if I want to fit in every today. I'll stop by and see how's Lee's doing as well."
"I'm sure he'd enjoy that very much. I'll see you later then." Gai says, giving me a wink paired with a thumbs up. I nod, coping him.
"See ya!"
