CHAPTER SIXTY
'a promise to be broken'

five months ago.

"I quadruple dare you to ask Bakugou to dance," Kaminari wiggled his eyebrows and shimmied his shoulders with Mineta, "He's going to end up leaving if you don't."

Frowning at the two boys, you turned to look at the boy of conversation. He was clad in a ripped, dark red shirt and a floral and navy vest, leaning against a pillar, looking bored out of his mind.

The I-Island I-Expo had just been disturbed by villains, but after it was dealt with by you all, the heroes all announced that the show must go on.

By show, they meant party.
The food was still intact.
The night was still young.
So why not?

After some clothes were handed out and remade, everyone gathered back in the main hall, talking and laughing together. The music was already being blasted throughout the place, probably heard on the outside where they were clearing the debris for the repairs the next morning.

Melissa Shield, an American student, had fixed up some speakers and other technology things you didn't understand for everyone to occupy themselves with.

You were invited in place for your missing mother and busy dad. He had bought you your outfit, now a partially burnt emerald skater dress with white and gold accents. And instead of heels, he told you that you could opt for trainers.

It came in handy for that fight.
Good choices.
Thank you, foresight.

After some heroes had taken the dance floor, a few more of your classmates, who were invited as early access guests joined in. For the dance partners, Yaoyorozu had asked Shoto, Melissa had asked Iida and Midoriya had asked Ochaco. Jirou was still by the speakers and you were constantly being teased by Kaminari and Mineta for not getting up and showing your 'moves'— whatever that was.

Meanwhile, Kirishima and Bakugou were talking one-sidedly away from everyone. Just watching.

"You still mad?" Kirishima asked, laughing at how you threw a piece of bread at Mineta. "I think she was pretty manly for jumping in front of you first."

Bakugou tsk-ed at his friend's statement and rolled his eyes heavily. "No. It's was stupid."

"She stopped the movements of the non-robotic bad guys and then you blew them up. A seriously scary power couple, there's no denying that. You should train more offence together."

"Shut up," he muttered. "There's no way that's happening, ever."

Bakugou didn't care for the partner stuff.
He focused on himself and himself only.

When Kirishima mentioned that you jumped in front of him for around the fourth time that night he didn't fail to miss your side-eyes. You kept turning away before he could give a reaction, which would've been a scowl in an attempt to make you stop. It wouldn't have worked anyway.

He saw that were sat alone on your phone when the two flirts you were with pranced up to the female pros on site. Then, his eyes caught a glimpse of Kirishima staring at him smugly with a glimmer for mischief.

"Ask her to dance with you, Bakubro," he nudged his side teasingly. "It'll be a good apology for the sports festival and you both could have a fresh start before training camp."
