CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
'festival, part two'
You were not Bakugou's girlfriend.
What Bakugou said was a blatant lie, obvious only to the two of you. Yet the answer that fell from his mouth when he told Monoma to 'back off' was so effortlessly said that it seemed like the truth.
Still frozen, you looked towards Bakugou with slightly more opened eyes wanting him to finish what he started. For the slightest second, his stoic face faltered.
He didn't think about what he'd say after and was now questioning if he said the right thing. He didn't usually think twice about anything. Somehow he did only when it involved you.
Monoma walked back a little, crossed both of his hands over his torso and raised his chin, looking at Bakugou through his hair.
"Really?" He asked, looking around him, "you're together?"
It immediately dawned upon you that you had an audience: students ranging from first to third years gathered around the three of you because of Bakugou's rowdy attitude, wanting a response.
Firstly, if you did agree, it would be awkward because you weren't actually boyfriend and girlfriend who are parents at sixteen. Secondly, if you declined what Bakugou already declared, it would only embarrass you both in front of the whole school and people would look into Katsuro's life more. Not to mention, you didn't have his birth certificate or details, making it possible for him to be taken away from you or put into an orphanage. That was not an option.
It was better you than Katsuro being exposed to the higher-up. You made up your mind, letting out a shaky exhale, mustering up the courage to speak up.
You walked up to Bakugou and linked your right hand around his left. "Did he stutter, Monoma-san?"
Guess this is my life now. Fantastic.
Monoma was now smirking wider, putting his hands in his pockets. "Teen mother? How unexpected. Great job in hiding him though, I didn't know until now— oh shit!"
He was grabbed by a ginger, her enlarged fist trapping her classmate causing him to disregard what he was saying. You recognised her to be Kendo, she was friends one of the close friends of Yaoyorozu and Class 1-B's class representatives.
"I'm so sorry, Sasaki-san. I'll take him away from you!" She bowed, apologising and moving away along with the sea of students. Monoma waved to you, using his free hand to make a 'call me' sign.
You shook your head and unlinked your arm, frowning deeply. Bakugou still had a scowl on his face until he turned to look at you.
"What were you thinking?" You quietly muttered.
The surprise he felt when you linked your arm with his and the warm feeling of your touch on him instantly faded. He tightened his lip and rose his eyebrow, confused on why you were mad.
"Why did you say that? We— I have enough attention on me already... I don't like being talked about by people I don't know..."
"Did you want to be hit on or do you suck up every word that a boy says to you? I saved you, so just thank me."
Surprised he said that, your breathing hitched. You wanted to slap him for even speaking to you that way. Your hand twitched, eyes wavering.
