Before He Lied

Tessa Chapter 7

I am so fucking stupid! I can't believe I actually thought that Hardin had feelings for me, I can't believe I let myself be tricked by him. I cheated on Nick, who am I? The kiss was so special to me, that kiss was the first time I have ever felt anything. I knew it was too good to be true, he was toying with me and I let him. I have to switch rooms, I have to get away from him before he plays me again. I walk into the elevator and go to the first floor, once I'm outside the dorm building I breathe in and out a few times. It's so nice out, this is why I love the city. I tie my hair into a lose low bun and pull out a few hairs to frame my face, I pull out my phone and look up the closet coffee to shop. I find one that's a decent walking distance. On the walk there I play last night over and over in my head. How could he not remember our kiss, that kiss was................I can't even put it into words. And we also slept together, I've never been in the same bed with another guy.....well I have with Nick but that was.............different. I've never been held like that before, his skin on mine. Our hands touching, I can't believe he doesn't remember, he didn't even seem that drunk.

"Hello?"
Suddenly I realize that I'm standing in line at the coffee shop, the worker tells me to walk forward.

"Sorry, I was distracted."

"What can I get you?" The worker says with ignorance.

"Just a regular black coffee, no cream, no sugar."

"Is that all?"

"And a chocolate chip muffin." I say with a smile.

"Ok, 15 dollars please."

"Ok."
Damn that's expensive, 15 dollars for a muffin and a cup of coffee. I guess that's New York for you, I look through my bag for my wallet. NO! I left it at the dorm.

"I'm sorry, I left my wallet back in my room."

"I've got it."

I turn around and see Chase come from behind the line.

"I can pay for her stuff."

He walks to the front of the line and pulls out his wallet.

"You really don't have to do that Chase, I can just go get my wallet."

"It's fine Tessa, just make that two coffees and the muffin please."

He pays and once we get our drinks and my muffin we walk to a table and sit down. I look out the window and watch the people walking , I look over at Chase and see him smiling at me.

"Thank you so much for the coffee and the muffin, I can repay you."

"Don't worry about it, so how do you like the city so far?"

"I love it."

Chase is so nice, he has dirty blond hair and chocolate brown eyes. He has the nicest smile, he has some tattoos but not as many as Hardin. I find myself comparing Chase and Hardin but I quickly stop.

"So I have been meaning to ask you, I don't think you saw me yesterday but I'm in your AP Psych class. This is the second time I'm taking the class because I failed last year, I know you're really smart so I was wondering if you could help me study."

"Me? I'm just a freshman."

"I know but I heard you in class yesterday, you got all the answers right. You're friends with Kim and she's wicked smart too, I know you're brilliant."
