Once we finished eating Tessa laid her head on my lap and just looked up at me, I gently run my fingers through her hair while she plays with the hem of my shirt. She pulls me close by the top of my shirt and I lean in to kiss her.
She giggles before she lightly closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, I gently run my fingertips over her collar bone and up her jawline.
She smiles.
"I like when you touch me." She says softly.
"And I love touching you." I say.
I lean in and kiss her jawline.
She opens her eyes and looks at me, she reaches her hand up rests it on my cheek. I leans into her hand and close my eyes, when I open them back up I see her smiling.
"I'm really happy." She says.
"I'm happy too baby."
"I just can't believe this is all real."
She sits up.
"What's real?"
"I don't know. Us? The apartment.................all of it, if you would have told me a month ago that I would be moving into an apartment with my boyfriend I would have laughed. I just didn't think this was all possible for me, for us. What if it's all a dream? I don't wanna wake up."
"It's not a dream darling, it's real."
"It's better be, or I'm gonna be one unhappy girl."
I just shake my head, I lean in for another kiss but she jumps off the couch.
"SHIT!" She says.
"What?"
"We forgot the ice cream, it's probably melted by now."
She runs across the room and grabs the ice cream from one of the shopping bags, she runs into the kitchen and quickly puts it in the freezer. I laugh before I stand up and bring the rest of groceries into the kitchen, I start placing everything on the counter.
"I assume you have a method as to how to stock the cabinets?" I tease.
She playfully scolds.
"Actually yes, cereal and dry foods in the pantry, can goods under the counter, plates bowls and silverware second drawer next to the sink, fruits in a basket on the counter, snacks the third cabinet and everything else in the fridge."
"Of course." I say.
"I'm gonna go put the cleaning stuff in the closet in the hallway, are you gonna remember where everything goes?"
"Yes." I say.
She grabs a shopping bag before she disappears into the hallway.
I smile while I try to remember where everything goes, did she say cereal in the cabinet or pantry?
Shit.
Whatever , she probably won't notice. Who am I kidding, it's Tessa. She'll definitely notice.
"Baby!" I call from the kitchen.
"Yeah!"
"Where does the cereal go?"
"I knew you would forgive."
She walks back into the kitchen and sits on the counter.
"They go in the pantry." She teases.
"I knew that."
I definitely didn't.
I grab the box of Frosted Flakes and put it in the pantry, it's the little things like this that make me feel special. She remembers my favorite foods.
