The vulnerability in her voice tugs at my heart, to be honest I don't even know where I'm going.

"Out." I say.

"Why? Why are you mad? I didn't do anything to you." Tessa says innocently.

I take a deep breath before I turn around and face her.

"Why Hardin? I haven't even done anything."

"You went on a date with Zach!"

"Yeah but we weren't even dating then Hardin! You can't be mad that I went on a date!"

"ITS NOT THAT YOU WENT ON A DATE."

"Then what is it?"

"Do you know how embarrassing that was for me? To go to a restaurant where my girlfriend went out with another guy!"

"You were embarrassed! Do you know how I felt! EVERY TIME I SEE KIM I TALK ABOUT YOU! I tell her how you've changed and how you treat me well and how you're different but every time we hang out with her you treat me like shit! I JUST WANT TO BE TREATED WELL!"

"TESSA IM TRYING!"

"YOU'RE NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH!"

She takes a deep breath.

"All I wanted was to have a nice dinner with my friends, I wanted to celebrate your book. I know that Zach brought me there but it doesn't matter."

"Of course it matters! What the hell were you two doing in that bathroom."

"Are you even hearing yourself! YOU'RE ACCUSING ME OF CHEATING!"

She covers her face with her hands before she lets out a helpless grunt. I know she didn't cheat, she would never do that to me but I need to hurt her.

"Hardin it's not my fault that you're insecure!"

"INSECURE! I'm not insecure!"

"Why else would you be making such a big deal out of this? Why can't you just trust me?"

"I do trust you, you know I do!"

"Then why are we even fighting! There is nothing between me and Zach! He took me on a date and we made out ONE time and that was it, I'm being completely honest with you."

She's so much better than me, she's so honest. I have no right to be upset but I am.

"So what is really bothering you?"

She walks towards me and and reaches for my hands.

"Hardin you can tell me anything, I won't judge you. I just want to know why you're acting this way."

And here another opportunity was given to me, I should have just told her about the bet and try to salvage what we have left.
But then again my stupid fucking ego and pride got in the way yet again.

"He took you on a date." I say quietly.

She looks up at me.

"You're jealous?" She asks gently.

"I...........yeah I guess."

She places her hand on my cheek, I look at her and she looks so upset.

"Why would you be jealous."
She whispers.

"He's perfect."

As the worlds escape my lips I immediately regret them, she looks at me with so much sadness. I shouldn't have said anything.
