Before He Lied

Hardin Chapter 10

When she left this morning to go hang out with Kim I decided that I was just gonna stay in bed all day, I didn't have plans and it's Sunday so staying in bed was the best thing to do. The plan was going great until I got a message from Sam, I tried to ignore it but she kept sending them. She wanted to meet up to talk about the bet, I didn't want to but I'm a coward and as much as I want to respect Tessa my ego got in the way. I figured Tessa would be back to the room late so I left a note, I hate lying to her but  it's best she doesn't know. I meet up with Sam and Chase at a bar, when I sit down she immediately sits on my lap. I feel so guilty, I don't want her.

"So boys, who's gotten farther? Is she still a virgin?" Sam says with an evil grin.

"I'm warming up to her, I'm gonna ask her to study at my apartment tomorrow so I'll definitely win." Chase says with a grin before he takes a shot.

This makes me so angry, just the thought of him touching her make me want to kill him.

"Wow, I thought Hardin would surely win since he lives with her."

"I will win, she won't go for Chase."

"Really? Has something happened between you two?" Sam asks.

I don't wanna tell her, those are Tessa's and mine private moments.

"Nothing special, we've just made out a few times."

"Really, wow. Bye bye boyfriend, looks like you're losing Chase."

"I will win, just wait till tomorrow." Chase says with a cocky grin.

"No you won't!"

Everyone looks at me, I need to calm down.

"Hardin what is your problem, are you catching feelings for that slut?" Sam questions.

"No, she's no one to me. I'm gonna fuck her and win the money, she's just a scared little virgin."

That's the farthest from the truth, she is some one to me. She's the woman I sleep with at night, I've never done that with anyone. My stupid pride.

"Well you better not get attached, she could never love you."

She runs her hand through my hair, Sam is right. Tessa could never love me, but I could never love her so maybe it's for the best that I don't get attached. The problem is that I'm already falling for this girl and there is no way of stopping it. I take a few shots, I need to calm down. The night is going slow and I can't stop thinking about Tessa, I hope she made it back to the room ok. Sam spits a shot in my mouth and suddenly I see hurt filled ocean eyes starting at me. Shit. Sam sees Tessas and using this to her advantage, Sam leans in and kissed me. I push her off and stand up.

"What the fuck Hardin!" Sam screams.

"Don't you ever kiss me ever again!"

"Fuck you!"

"You already have!"

I run out of the bar and see Tessas across the street.

"Tessa! Tessa please."

She looks back at me and I can see her tear stained face, she starts running faster. I try to catch up to her but I feel someone grab my shoulder, I turn around and see it's Kim.

"You asshole! How could you do that to her! You need to leave her alone!"

"Shut up Kim!"

"She's a virgin Hardin! I won't let you play her! I know exactly who you are and what you're doing! She was so happy this morning, she was glowing and she wouldn't stop smiling! When she told me she was seeing someone I didn't know it was you!"
