I slowly sit up, I'm confused for a moment until I realize that I'm in our new apartment. I look around.
"Hardin?"
"Babe where did you go." I call.
I stand up and look around, his phone keys and wallet are still on the coffee table. I hear mumbling coming from outside the door, I walk up to the front door and open it.
I see Hardin and some woman talking, she's a tall skinny blond with long gorgeous legs. She's wearing a red pantsuit and black shiny heels.
"Hardin?"
He quickly turns around and smiles at me, the blond looks at me and smiles as well.
"Who the hell are you?" I ask very defensively.
Hardin chuckles.
"Tess this is Janet, our realtor.................Janet this is Tessa, the woman I was talking about before."
"Oh my god, I'm sorry I was rude ......it's nice to meet you." I say.
I shake her hand.
"It's nice to finally attach a face to a name, it's great to finally meet you." Janet says.
Hardin reached for my hand, I bite the inside of my cheek.
"I just wanted to make sure you guys were settled, I also need the lease papers."
"Oh yeah, they are inside. I'll grab them."
Hardin steps inside and we are left outside alone.
"I'm sorry about my rudeness before." I say.
"Oh sweetie it's alright, I completely understand. I'm very protective of my fiancé too."
She extends her hand revealing a huge diamond.
"Wow, it's gorgeous. Congratulations." I say in Aw.
"Thank you, isn't it gorgeous, he did a great job. To be fair I did tell him which one I wanted but I'm still happy."
She admires her ring.
Why does everyone I know have an engagement ring picked out already? I would be happy if Hardin grabbed a piece of ribbon and tied it around my finger, I'm not a jewelry girl and to be honest I don't see the pleasure In dropping thousands on a shiny rock. I know some people say it's what the diamond symbolized but personally I think what two people share symbolizes more than a fancy rock ever will. I already know that I would lose that ring the second he placed it on my finger. All I care is that he gets on one knee and promises an eternity with me, we technically already promised each other forever but I would love to marry Hardin. To call him my husband, to be his wife. Mr and Mrs Scott.
I blush at the thought of marrying him.
"Here they are." Hardin says.
I quickly jump out of my head, he hands her the papers.
"Perfect, I hope you guys enjoy your new home. It's was a pleasure working with you Mr. and Mrs Scott."
"We aren't married." Hardin quickly adds.
"Oh..........I'm sorry, I just assumed........my mistake." She awkwardly says.
We stand in silence for a moment before Janet leaves , we both awkwardly walk back into the apartment. I close the door and we both weirdly pace around the apartment.
"I can't believe she thought we were married." I say with an awkward laugh.
"Yeah, I don't know why she thought that. It's not like we would actually ever get married." He chuckles.
