Gavin and I walk to the pub near the dorm and sit at the bar. I text Tessa so that she knows where we are, I'm so worried about her. She's usually full of energy and super happy but lately she's been so different. Of course I wanted to be the one to cheer her up but if Kim can bring back Tessas smile that's all I care about.
"What can I get you gentleman?" The bartender asks.
"Whiskey." Says Gavin.
"I'll just have water." I say.
Gavin gives me a weird look.
"What?" I ask.
"Water?"
"I don't feel like drinking."
"Since when?"
"Just drop it Gavin."
A smile spreads across his face.
"Let me guess, you don't wanna drink because of Tessa."
"No, I just don't wanna fucking drink."
"Sure." He says sarcastically.
"And plus one of us needs to be sober enough to get back to the girls."
He just shakes his head while takes a sip of his drink.
"So, what made you change your mind?" Gavin asks.
"Change my mind about what?"
"Relationships, the Hardin I know would be fucking the bartender in the bathroom right now."
"I'm the same Hardin you know, I'm just not that kind of person anymore."
"Wow." He says with a laugh.
"What Gavin?"
"Nothing, it's just Tessa really changed you."
"No she hasn't." I say defensively.
"Oh really, then let's have some shots."
"No."
"Fine suit yourself, love looks good on you."
"I'm not in love Gavin, shut the hell up."
"So what the fuck is this thing with Tessa? What are you doing man?"
If only I knew.
"We are just having a good time."
"Kim said you guys are dating."
Fucking Kim.
"Yeah, we are.............look I don't wanna talk about this."
Gavin finishes his drink and has a few shots.
...
"Hey, look at this." Gavin says.
He holds up the phone, it's a picture of Tessa and Kim. I can't help but smile as I see Tessa with a glittery face mask, she sticks out her tongue and holds up a peace sign.
"You're fucking done man." Gavin says with a laugh.
I quickly look away from the phone.
"What are you even taking about?"
"You're smiling like a little kid passing a candy store, you fell hard for this chick."
"Just drop it Gavin."
...
A few minutes pass and I order a burger, Gavin watches the football game playing on the tv while he eats his fries. They remind me of Tessa.
