Hardin Chapter 14

I hear their voices in the wall way, I jump off my bed and rest my ear against the door. I hear a few kissing sounds before they exchange goodbyes, she wants to go on another date with him. I hear her keys so I quickly jump back on my bed, when she opens the door I see her smiling. She looks so happy until she looks at me and her smile fades, she quickly looks away and walks over to her bed. She sits down and takes her shoes off before she walks over to her dresser and takes her jewelry off, I want to know what happened on this "date".

"Hi." He says in a soft tone.

She just ignores me, she places her phone on her nightstand before she grabs her towel and heads for the bathroom.

"Tessa.........."

She turns around quickly.

"What! What could you possibly want?"

"Just.......talk to me......please."

"No, I had a really good time tonight and I won't let you ruin it. Just leave me alone Hardin, if you care about even a little bit then you'll leave me alone."

She looks at me with hurt filled eyes.

"I can't................I don't want to leave you alone...........I want you Tessa."

"Well it's too late, you had a chance and you blew it, you ruined it."

She walks into the bathroom and slams the door, I hear the lock click. I just want her, I want her all the time. I hear her phone vibrate on the counter, it's probably Zach. I walk over and pick up the phone, a picture of a woman with the word MOM appears. Shit, what do I do? Before my brain can think I answer the phone.

"Tessie, it's mommy. You haven't called in a while and we have been worried about you, are you ok?" The woman nervously says into the phone.

"Uhhhh........Tessa isn't here right now." He says nervously.

"Who is this? Where's my daughter?"

"She's in the bathroom."

"Are you a boy? Why do you have my Tessa's phone?"

"I..............she's.........."

Suddenly the bathroom door opens and Tessa walks out with red eyes, she's been crying.

"Hardin I............what the hell are you doing with my phone?" She shouts.

She walks over and snatches the phone from my hand, she brings it up to her ear.

"Zach?"

"Tessie what's going on? Who's that boy? Are you alright?"

"Oh my god! Mommy...........what are........I'm fine...........everything is fine."

Mommy? She calls her mum mommy, that's cute. Cute? What's wrong with me? Tessa paces back and forth while her mother lectures her on the phone. Tessa holds the phone up to her ear but her mum is talking so loud all of New York can hear her.

"Who is this boy? Does Nick know about him? Are you two having sex?"

"MOM! He can hear you." She whispers into the phone.

This makes me laugh, her mum is funny.

"No mom we are not having sex...........his name is Hardin. He's my roommate, I broke up with Nick."

"You broke up with Nick because of this boy?" Her mother says worried.

"No, I broke up with Nick because he wasn't a good man."

Her mother doesn't talk for a few minutes and Tessa and I just awkwardly stare at each other.

"Why is your roommate a boy?"
