Burnout has really been hitting me hard yall 😞

"So...do you know how any of this works?"
Me and Kei sat opposite of each other on the counter, heads rested in our hands, confusion washed across our faces.
"No offence Tadashi...but I'm just as clueless as you are," he sighed, leaning back in his chair despite the fact he was tall enough to the point his head almost completely dangled behind it, a seriously uncomfortable position. I sat there while the room fell into silence, a slight sense of hopelessness clutching at my stomach, my ignorance adding to the desperation I felt.
Of course, I know there was no reason for me to be so eager, to rush into things so it will all be over with, but I tried not to deny my feelings. It was only normal to want my father out of my life forever, to be so quick to want to end things sooner than later, right?
And that's exactly what we were doing, sitting somewhere that no one would pick for a casual resting spot, eyebrows furrowed together in frustration.
"I think we should just get your mom to help with most of this, clearly neither of us know how the police system works."
"Are you sure you want to tell her everything, like, are you comfortable with that?"
"I don't really have any other choice, do I?" I shrugged as he sat up to look at me, a skeptical frown on his lips. He decided not to continue on, since I'm sure he realizes the truth in what I'm saying.
While we both sat dazed staring at the glazed marble island-top, a door opened behind me, redirecting my attention.
"Afternoon boys," Kei's mom grinned, kicking off her shoes and setting some papers and groceries on the table, "What's up?"
Kei scratched his head, glancing at me before speaking up.
"Well...Tadashi wants to finally come clean about all his dad did so he can be put away and we don't have to deal with him ever again, but...we don't really know how any of this works..." he chuckled, both of us staring at the now frozen in place woman in front of us. Her eyes weren't wide like she was surprised, but it was more like she had absolutely no idea what we were talking about, like the words coming from our mouth was complete gibberish.
Without warning, she slammed her purse and phone onto the table, both of us flinching and straightening up our posture. Now, I had never once seen his mom show any action that was even remotely close to anger, but this wasn't the scary part, the one that made my spine shiver. Instead, it was because her face was completely calm, no sign of rage written across her expression.
She started walking towards me, heels clacking on the floor echoing through the silent room, a large gulp making it's way down my throat. She laid her hands on either side of my arms, not tight enough to be forceful, but enough to where I knew she was serious, dead serious.
"Can I ask you a question?" She glared into my eyes, yet I knew it was rhetorical as she started talking before I could get an answer out, "Who is the adult here?"
"Y-you are..." I clutched my teeth in nervousness, too scared to say the wrong answer at someone who's intimidation was radiating from them more than I ever expected.
"That's right...so please," she squeezed her hands tighter, just enough so I could notice, "please let me take care of this. You've gone through so much, dealt with all this yourself, when I'm the adult, so it's my responsibility, you hear me? I don't want you to do a single thing, to raise a single finger. This is your time to relax, because while you were suffering I was sitting her relaxing, doing nothing. Therefore, I need to do this for you. Please don't worry about all of this. Let me do it."
