I glance at Miles before my eyes go back to David.
"Miles," David says as if he's surprised.
"What . . . I didn't expect you to be home." Miles's father admits and I can almost feel Miles's nerves tighten.
"You didn't expect me to be in my own house?" He barks, his tone is soft but firm; so firm and it's clear that he's more than angry.
"Miles—" I try but when he doesn't look at me and when David doesn't seem to have heard me at all, I stop.
"So now the question is; what the fuck are you doing in my house?" Miles's eyes stare so hard at him, not into his eyes but at him, so hard that it seems to be making David uncomfortable as he scratches the back of his full head of hair and continues to shift from one leg to another.
"Valentina couldn't come today, so I thought I'd keep the house clean for you," David explains and Miles's features soften for a second but then almost instantly after the second has ended, his features are back to being firm and hard. He's angry; angrier now but he still manages to keep his cool like he always does.
"You can show yourself out." Miles finally says and I'm surprised at how calm his voice sounds. David lets out a breath and looks at Miles before parting his lips.
Miles's POV
I stare at my dad but not in the eyes, at his face as I try to keep my calm. I haven't seen Madison in almost a fucking week and David is lucky that sex with her is a very big motivation for not snapping his neck right now because my fists are more than ready to do so and so are my fucking fingers. Oh, I am so ready.
"Miles, please," David begs, his eyes serious and his features hard as he tries to reason but I won't have it, I don't need to have it and he doesn't have a fucking say in any fucking thing. Not a single fucking thing.
Ever since he fucking left that's when I didn't have a dad anymore and he does not fucking deserve to visit my damn house and dare say the words he just said.
"Your right was lost a long time ago, David." I breathe out, letting the anger out with my breath rather than my words because I can't stop now, I can't freak out on him, punch him, I can't.
"Miles—" he begins, his eyes looking up at Madison and me.
"No, I won't let you talk, you fucking can't come in here and just—"
"Sandra and I are pregnant." He says and I come to a complete stop. I feel weak as if something has been injected into me.
My arms feel weak and so do my legs and feet. I can't move. I completely can't fucking move. I can't even make my eyes look into his or at Madison but I can tell that her eyes are wide open, mine would be if I could fucking move.
My head turns slightly, but only to face David better.
"Why?" I manage the words, throwing them out at him; fucking spitting them at him. He looks confused as if he's thinking about an answer or pondering how the fuck he should answer. I almost want to schoff, he doesn't know what I'm talking about.
"Why the fuck are you bringing a fucking child into this? What fucking reason do you have? You're practically dead already!" I manage a laugh and it's a real fucking genuine laugh.
"Miles!" Madison tries to cut in and it's fucking clear, oh so fucking clear that David was about to do the same thing except he held himself together because he fucking knows that he's not fucking allowed to. He doesn't have a fucking say in what I spit at him.
"Because Sanda deserves that." He says, looking down at the floor as if he's a fucking sad puppy.
"We tried even before my cancer diagnosis and even if I do go away because it is terminal, I want to leave behind a child for Sandra." He says and I realize just how fucked up this whole situation is.
"Con-fucking-grats then," I say and slam the door on his face as hard as I can.
"Miles," Madison says for the third time but this time it's not because I did something wrong. The tone is different, it's softer and filled with understanding.
"Give me a sec," I tell her, looking at her one last time before running up the stairs.
Madison's POV
Miles's eyes looked hurt and now he's gone. I quickly run up the stairs after him, but before I'm even close to reaching the top; the bathroom door shuts and locks.
I hear coughing almost instantly and I can't help but jump slightly. I instantly feel with worry and even though I feel David knocking on the door downstairs, I ignore it and reach for the bathroom door where Miles is hiding.
The coughing turns violent and I almost shake with worry. My body is tense as I stare right outside the bathroom door.
"Miles." I knock harshly and everything stops. I hear the door unlock and I press the handle down and push the door open slowly. I see the darkness hat is Miles and then I spot something red; completely different from what I'm used to seeing near him.
"Blood?" I look at him, my eyes worried, switching between him and the sink.
"Miles what's going—"
"I don't know." He answers calmly as if it's not a big deal, but it is, it's a very, very big deal.
"I think I was drugged." He says and my eyes instantly peer into the whole situation. The blood in the sink and then at him.
"I've got a lot of explaining to, Madison." He finally says and I feel the knots that I haven't felt for a long time start to tighten hard.
