Miles's POV

After leaving Hayden's house, taking a shower, and eating whatever hell-tasting vegan burger Valentina made, I'm finally on my bed The soft silk sheets reminds me just how fucked up I am.

I stare out the window, and before I know it, I'm back with my stupid phone beside me. The phone is almost as fucked up as I am.

The sides of the matt black are fucked and the screen will at some point break just like I broke her. I hear a knock as I sit there in the dark, the window seems to be my only thinking place recently.

"Miles?" Valentina's voice sounds in through the door which reminds me just why I moved out from my mom's house. Valentina always asked me while my mom always demanded me.

"Another party?" She asks through her light accent, it's gotten better over the years. My mom took her in a while ago and what I can remember of her, she was a young twenty-three-year-old girl, and my mother being the bitch she is—took the poor girl in with of course the exception of being my mother's twenty-four-seven servant.

"Yeah." I breathe, not looking back at her. I know she's there, I don't need to see her—I don't need to see anyone.

"Your birthday is soon, will there be a party again this year?" She asks sweetly and I shake my head.

"No clue." I sip the whiskey bottle in my hands. It's amazing how many of these Hayden had.

"Okay, but let me know, I will bake cookies and maybe a cake?" She says and I smirk.

"I don't think I'll be celebrating this year," I say looking down at my phone and the endless phone calls to Madison my finger is making.

"Why not?"

"Turning twenty-one isn't a big deal, but I'll let you know if I need anything." I say and hear a small 'okay' before the door closes completely. I take a deep breath before looking at the calendar on my app.

"December nineteenth." I breathe as I stare at the number.

"Who gives a fuck?" I shake my head before tossing my phone away—a habit I've paid the price for too often.

As I watch the stupid white flakes fall onto the ground I hear a buzzing sound coming from my phone. For a second I'm confused but then I finally look at the screen.

"Madison?" I whisper before my finger slides across the screen. I place the phone next to my ear but before I can say anything I hear an unfamiliar voice.

"Stop calling her, you've done enough." The voice says, it takes me a second before I realize it's that guy that Jack or whatever the fuck his name was.

"I know, which is why I'm fucking calling; I need to explain, I was waster when I—"

"As I said, you've done enough, stop calling, she doesn't need to hear from you. She's with me now." He says and I clench my jaw and my fists

"With you?" I close my eyes and try not to bite my tongue all the way through.

"Yeah . . . I'm her boyfriend." He says and I smile.

"Sure you are, hope you don't mind that I fucked her first," I say with a smirk before ending the call and throwing my phone on my bed before sipping Hayden's whiskey bottle.

Madison's POV

I open my eyes slightly, I feel like I haven't gotten sleep in a month and now finally, after falling asleep next to Jace, I feel like I've rested. But as I remember, Jace was right by my side, but now, he's nowhere to be seen.

"Jace?" I call out but I don't hear anything back.

"Jace!" I call again, sitting up on the bed. The last thing I remember is falling asleep with him next to me. I sit there in the bed with white sheets before I finally stand up, my feet touching the hotel's dirty rug.

"Madison." I finally see Jace approaching from the bathroom.

"Sorry, I decided on a quick shower." He says and I shake my head with a smile.

"It's . . . it's okay," I say, stumbling over my words as I watch him drying his now darker hair with a small white towel while he stands in font of me with a towel wrapped tightly around his abdomen.

"You've been . . . you've been working out?" I watch his sculpted body.

"Yeah, just a little." He says, his thick and muscular hand wiping the drops of his hair. The Jace I remember was much less muscular and the last time I saw him without a shirt off was too long ago for me to remember.

"It looks good on you." I bite at my lip before turning on my heel and walking towards the bed again. I make the bed, feeling Jace's eyes on me.

"When do you leave?" I ask him and he gives me a smile.

"I don't have to, I can stay as long as you need me."

"I don't want you to stay," I say, realizing how that sounded.

"I don't want to stay here . . . I want to go home." I smile and he nods at me.

"Then we'll go home, Madison." He says and I look at him with a smile. I grab my coat and my phone before I head towards the door.

"I need to grab a few things from my dorm before I come, I'll meet you in Ohio." I breathe but Jace looks broken at the words.

"I know you're hurt, and you can't be alone when you're like this. I'm staying by your side." He says and I nod. I desperately want to stay alone but maybe Jace is right.

"Come on, I can't wait to see your dorm room," Jace says and I nod, letting the butterflies in my stomach rise little by little.
