CHAPTER 14

Martin

Luna dozed off on my arms after she cried for a while. She didn't even touched the food that my secretary ordered for us. I slowly lifted her from my lap so I could lay her on the bed. I watched her meek face for a moment. Hindi ko mapigilang mapatiim-bagang nang dumako ang paningin ko sa pasang tinamo niya sa pagkakasampal ng Mama niya malapit sa kanyang panga.

She already gone through hardships since she was young. All I ever wanted to do with her is to take care of her, make her feel important and loved.

I kissed her forehead before I leave her in the bed. My phone rang and saw it was my male secretary from the main office. Muli kong dinungaw si Luna sa kama. When I made sure she's already sleeping soundly, tinungo ko ang balcony para roon na sagutin ang tawag.

"Yes, Fred."

"Sir, I checked your schedule for tomorrow. You have an appointment with Mr. Francisco at 1 p.m."

Hinilot ko ang aking sentido. "Re-schedule it, Fred. I will not be available for the rest of the week."

"Pero Sir, pangatlong re-schedule niya na po ito." He reasoned out.

I heaved out a deep sighed. "I'll update you tomorrow, Fred. For the meantime, halt all my schedules for this week."

"I'll note it, Sir."

I ended the call and sighed again. Kuya Alfie and I were hands-on in bringing up the SVN again to its glory. The company is in recession right now. I know I have important meetings to attend to but when I received a disturbing update from my men about Luna, hindi ako nagdalawang-isip na bumyahe agad para mapuntahan siya.

I know I got important things to do in Manila. I only filed a 2-day leave for her birthday but when I learned what happened, mukhang isang linggo ko munang iiwan ang opisina.

She's more important than anything else.

After I took a shower, tinungo ko na ang sofa para makapag-pahinga. I can see Luna from here. She's very irresistible. I wanted to stay beside her but... no. I would lose my control if I did that. She doesn't want me to leave her side now. I don't want to make her feel alone, too. Masyado na siyang nasasaktan. Pakiramdam niya'y walang nagmamahal sa kanya. And if she can't find the love and attention she's longing from her mother, ako ang pupuno no'n.

Luna

Mararahang haplos sa aking ulo at mukha ang gumising sa akin sa masarap na pagtulog. Ang huling naaalala ko ay nasa kandungan ako ni Martin kagabi. I told him everything what happened. Iyak ako ng iyak habang ikinu-kwento ko sa kanya ang lahat ng nangyari. Nakalma lamang ako nang painumin niya ako ng tubig at aluin sa kanyang mga bisig.

"Good morning..." bumungad ang kanyang ngiti sa akin. It was as bright as the sunshine. Full of vibrance and positivity. Nakaupo siya ngayon sa gilid ko.

I smiled at him bago ako nag-unat ng katawan habang nakahiga sa kama. I'm not sleepy anymore. I just want to lay in bed more for a couple of minutes or so. Pero dahil mukhang bagong ligo na ang kasama ko at nakapagpalit na, pinilit ko na ang sarili kong bumangon.

I was scratching my eyes and yawning at the same time. He chuckled. He pinched my nose habang nakangiti pa rin.

"I love your 'just woke up' look, baby." He said. Then he bit his lips.

Natauhan ako sa sinabi niyang iyon. I got conscious. Bigla kong sinalat ang buong mukha ko dahil baka may muta o tuyong laway. He chuckled more.

"What are you doing?" tanong niya. Kinuha niya ang magkabilang kamay ko at ibinaba sa kama.
