"This is creepy and it's the vampire who's saying it", Baby said. The school was dark and gloomy. Only the street lamps and the moonlight outside gave the bland corridors light. Baby, Stiles and Lydia navigated the building by memory, night vision and the use of phone flash lights. "Guys", Baby looked at his two companions. "I'm the vampire with night vision and even I find the school in the dark creepy".

"We've been here dozens of times in the dark", Stiles retorted. "Why are you suddenly worried now?"

"I'm not worried", Baby muttered. "No much can hurt me but I like horror movies and this is a classic horror movie vibe".

"Also the last time we crept round school together at night, Ms Blake tried to kill us", Lydia reminded. Baby shivered at the memory of the burning holy water.

"Yeah. Thanks for the reminder".

Lydia want silent for a moment as they followed Stiles into the science labs. Stiles immediately went to the supply closet. "That was supposed to be locked".

"Yeah I know. Notice anything else?" Stiles asked.

Baby gagged and held his nose. "It reeks of chemicals. Urgh. This is why I hate science". Then his eyes widened. "Urgh, the bomber covered up his scent with chemicals", he exclaimed. "Are any missing?" Stiles had his phone flashlight held up over the glass bottles as he checked.

His flashlight caught on something and he turned to crouch down on the floor. Baby and Lydia leaned closer to see small pieces of glass and drops of blood on the white linoleum. "That's strong chemicals", Baby remarked as he lowered himself down to sniff at the blood. "It stinks so bad in here that I couldn't even pick up the smell of blood".

"He was here", Stiles stated. "Preforming very minor surgery on himself. You were right".

Baby picked up one of the bloodied pieces of glass and licked it. He pulled a face. "It tastes ill. Like it's gone off, which it probably has. It's been exposed to the air too long. He must have done this hours ago. Probably during the morning before the police searched the place". He pulled another yucked out face and dropped the glass back onto the floor. "He doesn't taste healthy".

"Still want to eat him?" Stiles joked. Baby shrugged.

"Be doing the world a favour. Instead of the death penalty, your government should give your death row inmates to hungry vampires. I've met a few that would enjoy the snack".

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Barrow is obviously planning something. I think he was here to kill somebody".

"Yeah but who?" Lydia asked. Stiles stood and left the supply closet.

"We should spread out", Stiles thought aloud. "Start looking for more clues".

Lydia turned and something on the blackboard caught her attention. Baby followed her as she crossed the classroom  to get a better look. Stiles looked up from what he was doing and joined them. "Lydia, what are those?"

"Atomic numbers", she replied. On the black board were three different numbers written in rows.

"Is it some sort of formula?" Baby asked. He had never been very good at science.

"Not really", Lydia shook her head. "19 is potassium. 53 is iodine. 88 is radium. The first two make potassium iodine.." she cut off with a huff and grabbed the chalk. She wrote out a k next to the number.

"Potassium is K?" Stiles asked.

"It's Latin or something", Baby shrugged. "Want to hear a joke? Oxygen and Magnesium are going out! O Mg".

Stiles rolled his eyes, "babes, normally I'd love that joke but this is not the time".

On the blackboard, Lydia had written out the letters for Radium. "Kira", Baby read. "Kira Yukimura?" He laughed. "Oh I'd like to see her mother's reaction to this".

"Baby", Stiles clicked his fingers for attention. "You're doing that thing where you forget to mention what you know again".

Baby smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, I just keep on forgetting that you guys don't know things. What I meant is that I know Kira's mum. I met her back when I was with my sire".

"So Kira's mother is a supernatural creature", Lydia stated. Baby nodded.

"I can't tell you guys anything else because that woman is terrifying".

"We should warn Kira", Stiles stated. He started for the door. "Come on".

——

Kira's house was not that far from school. It was a wealthy neighbourhood with artistic modern houses and quiet drives. Stiles parked his jeep a few doors down and they scrambled out. "That's Scott's bike", Lydia pointed to the green dirt bike park infront of Kira's house. Baby sniffed and jogged over. He could smell spilt blood.

"Scott", he called as he spotted him. Scott was sprawled on the tarmac on the other side of his bike. He was unconscious and bleeding from a gash on his head.

Stiles dropped down beside him and began patting his friend's cheeks. "Come on buddy, wake up. Scott!" Scott stirred and blinked open his eyes. As soon as he saw them, he sat up and immediately winced at the dizziness.

"Barrow! He took kira".

"We know", Baby replied as he and Stiles pulled Scott to his feet. "He was after her the whole time". The werewolf swayed for a second before his healing caught up to him. Already his head wound was healing.

"I should call Issac", Scott pulled out his phone. "See if he and Allison found anything". The phone call was brief and ultimately yielded nothing new. Scott turned back to them disappointedly once he had hung up. "We have to think of something, he's going to kill her".

"Why don't we go and get her parents?" Baby suggested.

Scott shook his head. "No. They'll call the police and it would be too late by then". Baby owned his mouth to argue that Kira's mother would be able to find her daughter, then shut his mouth. Mrs Yukimura was terrifying and he didn't want Scott to get on her bad side by loosing her daughter.

"I knew he was at the school", Lydia said, her voice high with frustration. "How did I know that?"

"Lydia", Stiles spoke calmly. "What do you hear now?"

"Nothing". She gritted her teeth. "I feel like I can do this but I don't know what to do". She rung her hands and took a few steps away from them, jittery with nervous energy. "It's like it's on the tip of my tongue. I swear to god it makes me literally want to scream".

"Them scream", Baby commanded. "You're a banshee. Just let it go and scream".

And Lydia screamed. It echoed round them. A piercing high pitched tone. Baby jerked back, clutching at his ears. He would have tripped if Stiles had not caught him and braced him up. As soon as the scream started, it stopped. Lydia looked around then suddenly turned to them. All three boys jumped back, half afraid that she would scream again.

"It's not flies", she announced. "It's electricity".

"Wait a sec", Stiles clicked his fingers as his mind whirred. "Barrow was an electrical engineer. He worked at a power substation".

"What substation?" Scott asked.
