It had been a couple days. At least... what felt like a couple days, of being pumped full of drugs, then taken to a white room with some guy watching me from behind a screen.

"Do you still not feel any different?" The man in the plague mask asked, pressing down on his microphone.

"No." I replied bluntly, sitting in the corner hugging my legs.

"You seem bored. Go entertain yourself with something." He demanded more than asked. The room was filled with lots of random things; gym equipment, a TV, a deck of cards (in case I had some kind of mind-reading bullshit) and other various items, all aiming to encourage a quirk to come flying out of me.

"Ugh." I groaned, getting up and heading to the table. I took out the deck of cards, shuffling them deftly. Laying out the cards, I started a game of solitaire.

"Solitaire, huh?" He said, observing me.

"Yup. You're more than welcome to join me for a game of Rummy, if you dare." I smiled to myself, remembering when I'd used to play cards as a kid with my grandparents.

"...Sure. Come over here." I turned around to see a small window open between us in the screen. I shrugged, heading over to him with the deck.

"No funny business." He said sternly, referring to the now small open space between us. It was very small, maybe a couple inches high. Even if I wanted to do something, nothing would fit through there.

He dealt the cards, and we began what was surprisingly a pleasant game. A clock on the wall ticked in the background- the only noise accompanying the game, save for the occasional chatter.

"Ha. Shouldn't have done that." He remarked, picking up the card I just put down, and inserting it into his hand.

"Aw, fuck." I looked back down at my cards.

"Ha. Shouldn't have done that."

I furrowed my eyebrows, looking up only to see him picking up the same card and putting it in his deck. Again.

"Uh- oops." I tried to play it off.

Throughout the game, the ticking got louder. Louder, and louder, until it was practically deafening.

"Shit-" I dropped a card, hearing his light snickers following. As I bent down to pick it up, it was gone.

"Huh?" I looked around my chair for a second, until catching my own hand in the corner of my eye.

The card was there the whole time.

"Looking for something?" He wanted to know.

"I- I thought I dropped something." I rubbed my eyes in confusion. My head was starting to pound, but we continued until the end.

"Rummy!" He slapped the last card down and shouted a little too enthusiastically, for someone who's meant to be my captor.

"Good game." I congratulated him, and was met with a sharp pain in my head. I scrunched my eyes shut, rubbing my temples.

"Rummy!" He shouted again, slapping the same card down.

It was then, I came to the mortifying realisation.

"Oh. You have a nosebleed." I touched my nose, and surely my fingers were coated in crimson.

"Let's head back for today, hm?" He said, opening the door.

The clock continued to tick.

As it finally set in what I had now become.
