"Chef! We're out of time!"
My assistant took my attention. They're having trouble with the dishes they're cooking. I wiped the bullet of sweats in my temple and I ran across their place.
"What's the problem?" I asked while mixing the mixture. The worker looked nervous but he still managed to speak.
"I-I don't know what's wrong, Chef but I think there's missing spices that I forgot to put." He said. He was panicking.
I took a spoon of the mixture and tasted it. I was in a deep thought, thinking about which spices had been missing in the mixture.
"Lend me the turmeric,"
Mabilis siya pumunta sa gilid at inabot sa akin iyon. I was carefully pouring the powder. And after that I grabbed the paprika.
"It's time, Chef." My assistant said.
I let out a sigh. I turned my head to the worker and smiled.
"Go, taste it." Sabi ko habang inaayos ang umiporme ko.
Tumango ito at tinikman nga iyon. His eyes widened. He look at me and nodded.
"It's perfect!" He said.
I just smirked.
Tuloy tuloy ako lumabas sa kitchen habang ang assistant ko ay nakasunod sa aking gilid. Inalis ko ang toque sa aking ulo at tinignan ang sarili sandali sa reflection ng bintana.
"They're here, Chef. Are you ready?" Tanong ni Rina, assistant ko. Binuksan niya ang malaking pinto ng kitchen.
"Do I look okay or haggard?" Kinakabahan kong sabi.
She smiled.
"You look great, Chef."
Nakahinga ako nang maluwag. I will meet the representatives of two companies. I just hope they will like our popular dishes. If that happens, I will open a branch in Philippines.
"Good morning!" Bungad ko sa isang matandang lalaki at babae. Napatayo sila at ngumiti sa akin.
"Greetings, Ms. Salvanes! I had a good time from looking at your restaurant. It's classy yet elegant. I'm impressed." Napangiti ako sa sinabi ng babae.
"Thank you very much. Oh, the foods are here. Shall we?" Ngiting sabi ko sa kanila.
"Oh! I've been waiting for this moment." Sabi naman nung lalaki.
Nilahad ng mga kasama ko ang mga pagkain sa mesa nila. Isa isa nila iyon binuksan at pinakilala. Nakangiti lang na nakikinig si Miss Cavier at Sir Christian.
Kumakabog ang dibdib ko habang pinapanood sila na tinitikman ang mga pagkain na nakalatag. I bit my lower lip because of nervous. Tumikhim si sir Christian at marahan na pinunasan ang labi.
"This dish is quiet peculiar and unique. Did you make this by yourself?" Tanong nito habang tinitignan ako.
Tumango ako.
"Yes sir, I started to make my own dishes after I graduated in college." I explained. Tumango tango lang ito.
Nakahinga ako ang maluwag. It's a good feedback I guess? Now, I just need the opinion of Miss Cavier.
Pinaghanda ko ang mga best dishes. Yung laging binabalikan ng mga costumers sa amin. At yung iba naman ay Filipino Dishes na pero ginamit ko ang recipe ng pamilya ko. Laking salamat ko naman na nagustuhan ng mga tao dito.
Nagulat kami ni Rina nang tumayo si Miss Cavier. Seryoso ang mukha nito nang humarap sa akin. Parang sasabog ang puso ko sa kaba.
My hands are sweating while waiting her response.
