Weiss Schnee confidently walked into her first period class and sat near the middle of the room. She would've sat in the front if the annoying blond boy who wouldn't leave her alone wasn't there. That was fine though; she was able to adapt.
Not many people had arrived yet considering it was still fairly early, still ten minutes before the late bell rang. Weiss pulled out her phone and looked over the schedule she had.
Debate team meeting, volunteering, and a meeting after school for her family's company. A pretty tight schedule (most debate team meetings lasted an hour, then volunteering was an hour and a half; the business meeting was at five) but doable nonetheless. She finally looked up again to see the most exhausted looking person she'd ever seen coming through the door.
She was pretty, even with heavy eye bags and messy hair kept out of her face using only headphones.
Her fashion could use some work, Weiss thought. But I guess it suits the "I couldn't care less, I'm only here because of truancy laws" vibe I'm getting.
A t-shirt for a band Weiss had never heard of that looked to be three sizes too big and loose jeans that pooled at her feet. She probably had an older brother that she stole clothes from or maybe they used to be her dad's? The only things that seemed to be bought specifically for her were her jewelry and boots.
Her tired black and silver-blue eyes scanned the room looking for a place to sit before she locked eyes with Weiss, who quickly looked away when she found herself staring.
Great now she's going to think I'm interested. Just because I'm curious about how you can leave the house like that doesn't mean anything. Even if you are prettier than Neptune...
Shrugging, she made her way over to Weiss and plopped into the chair next to her, dropping her bag on the floor next to her chair. Weiss watched as she pulled out a large water bottle that had Grimm Reaper printed on it in black as if it were dripping ink and a silver scythe above the words.
She pulled a can of Red Bull from her leather bag and opened the water bottle before also opening the can. The strong smell of black coffee drifted from the 24oz bottle before the unnamed person did something practically insane.
SHE POURED THE WHOLE CAN OF RED BULL INTO THE COFFEE!
Weiss was sure that her face had morphed into a mixture of fear and shock. The smell coming from the, now fittingly named bottle, made Weiss' head hurt as she continued to watch the psychopath she was stuck next to.
(no sane person would do this sort of thing)
"I'm going to die," was all the mystery person said before downing the whole bottle quicker than a man dying of thirst.
"What do you mean by that?" Weiss asked hesitantly, trying to keep her voice calm.
"I have a 5 page essay, a German project, a history paper, and I have to take my dog to the vet. All things I have to get done by tomorrow," she answered. "I've been putting these things off since the fourth you see?"
"It's the twenty-seventh..." Weiss said plainly.
"I'm a master procrastinator." Obviously. "I haven't slept in a week. My brothers are driving me crazy and are insisting on riding with me to school 'cause my motorcycle's broken. All I'm running on is Red Bull, coffee, and ADD meds. All of which explains why I haven't eaten in over 24 hours."
And suddenly Weiss was left wondering how this psychopath was still alive.
(once again no sane person would do these things)
She pulled a granola bar from her crossbody bag and placed it on her desk.
"Eat this and don't ask any questions," Weiss ordered. Psycho took the granola bar and looked at the back of the wrapper.
"What's in this..?" she asked slowly like her mind was barely registering what she was reading.
"That was a question."
"Apologies, but I have a banquet in two weeks and I don't feel like getting my dress re-tailored," Psycho replied with a lazy smirk.
"Would've never guessed with the way you dress."
"Oh I live to surprise, princesa." After deeming it acceptable, she took a small bite out of it and sighed quietly in content. "Ooh, chocolate~"
"Who are you exactly?" Weiss asked while watching the other. Weiss thought that her enjoyment of the simple chocolate chip granola bar was...curious to say the least. "I know we've been in the same class this semester but I don't think I've ever seen you before."
"Eh?" She stopped eating for a moment and frowned before the smirk returned. She leaned back in her chair. "I don't really care what you call me. You'll hear all kinds of names around campus anyway. Eclipse, Thea, Moonshine- I'm kinda famous."
"Isn't moonshine a drink?"
"Worst one to have if you can't handle your alcohol." She smiled. "For simplicity's sake, let's go with Eclipse. Eclipse Tooru-Sai. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Miss Schnee."
Weiss noticed the way she spoke; high class and polite at times, but also lazy and sarcastic. It was odd to say the least.
"I'd prefer it if you called me Weiss." Eclipse nodded and reached into her bag's side pocket, pulling out a can of iced coffee. Weiss took the can from her before she could open it. "Are you trying to kill yourself?"
"Well, it would certainly speed up the process." Eclipse replied easily. Weiss could only imagine the expression on her face.
Now I feel like I have to keep her from dying from caffeine overdose.
She silently handed Eclipse a water bottle and kept the iced coffee out of her reach.
And that was the start of a beautiful friendship or, rather, the start of Weiss keeping Eclipse from killing herself.
However, one of Eclipse's names sounded familiar to Weiss.
As they walked to their next classes, Weiss looked at her and thought, Thea... did you come home?

ok so sometimes I reread old parts of my books to see how I've changed and I got to this chapter and was like first of all what in the 2014 Wattpad is that outfit 😨 and second of all the kamiyas don't know her by Eclipse (which is what was alluded to at the end originally) so they wouldn't say "hey how about the heiresses actually meet each other again? she goes by Eclipse now."
the boys only know bc they go to the same school (in this au)
so I got bothered and decided to rewrite pretty much the whole thing
also to explain how the Eclipse/Thea thing works in this universe: when she was 9 she and Zeus did go to the lavender field and all the normal stuff happened but she took refuge in a club when she was like 11-13 and Qrow found her (also like in canon - the ages are just different)
he recognized her from the news (she's an heiress that went missing she'd be on the news for long enough for someone to recognize her) and he talked her into staying at Beacon (which is a normal high school in this) until she was ready to see her family again which took two years
she's now back at home and while there's a clear difference everyone treats it like she's been there the whole time
if you look at old vs current pictures you can tell its her but ppl aren't just doing that so nobody knows she's actually related to Apollo and Esteban they just think she adopted a freshman and junior (she's a senior rn) which is also why Weiss doesn't know but still thinks 'maybe this is my Thea'
