"Dad, you might have to hear me out on this one."
"NO."
Eclipse blinked. "No? Just like that– I didn't even say it yet!"
"Thea, the last time one of my children said 'hear me out', your brothers got into a fight over whether a character from one of Apollo's hyperfixations is a furry or if liking him makes you a furry." Zeus sighed. "I can't."
"What character?" Eclipse said.
"Thea."
"Well you need to hear me out for this, it's not about anything like... that."
"Promise." Eclipse nodded and he sighed again. "Go on."
Well this is going to be difficult
"So y'know that story γιαγιά used to tell us about magic and life before Semblances?"
"Thea, if you're going to ask me why I was named after one of the worst gods again, I am going to force you out of my office."
"...fair. Anyways, I was actually talking about the maidens. Do you, like, believe in them?"
"Thea, everyone in our family is named after gods, of course I believe in the maidens."
"Great, that makes this easier..." She tried to reach past her Semblance and Erebus to use what she was newly cursed with. She held her hand out and the air got colder, frost gathered on the window and the lavender glow surrounded her eyes again. "I, um, I'm one of them."
Zeus went rigid and put his hand out to touch the snow that began falling. "For how long?"
"Since we went to see Ironwood. I met the last Winter Maiden and she- she died while I was there. I was the last person in her thoughts so I'm the one the powers transferred to." She willed the cold to recede and everything went back to normal. "I need to get rid of them."
"Why would you want to do that? You've been gifted, you should use it."
"Dad, I'm..." Time to tell him. "I'm not staying. I can't. And someone else, someone who will, should have these powers to guard Atlas. I need your help."
"What can I do?"
"I need a machine that can transfer them from me to Winter."
"You don't even like Winter." He looked at her blankly.
"Why does everyone say that– my personal feelings about her don't matter, is it possible?" she sighed.
Zeus tilted his head from side to side. "I'll probably need you and Winter to test it."
"Test it... how?"
"Just try transferring a little of the power to her to see if it works. If that works I'll make a larger version. The first should only take a day or so to perfect but one large enough for you to lie in may take around a week at the longest."
"That's longer than I thought..." Eclipse muttered. "Alright and what should I do?"
"Maybe figure out where you're going before you leave."
"I have an idea okay?"
"Sure sure go on αγαπητή μου."
"Bye!" She slipped out the door and headed back to the second floor. "Time to talk to birthstone."
Eclipse knocked on the door to the room they had granted Emerald. Quite nice for someone who had tried to kill them multiple times and by extension killed her dog.
"Come in," a small voice called from inside.
She opened the door to see Emerald standing at the window. She looked far off; she hadn't interacted with them very much in the past week, almost completely missing. The only way to know she hadn't left was seeing her at meals.
