Kyra and Riolu were woken by a flock of Starly flying overhead the next morning. The pleasant wake up call made Kyra feel as if she was a real trainer already, despite not having even been on her journey for a day yet.

Once Kyra had changed, she and Riolu packed up the sleeping bag and went outside to start putting the tent away. It was still fairly early in the morning and neither one was expecting Nate or Willow to be up any time soon, but they were more than happy with each other's company for the time being.

"How long have you two been up then?" Nate asked as he emerged from his tent about five minutes after Kyra and Riolu had finished packing their tent away.

"Not too long, about fifteen minutes or so. Did you sleep alright?" Kyra replied.

"Not bad, not bad. Bit uncomfortable since there was a rock underneath my back, but apart from that it was alright. How about you Willow?" Nate asked, noticing that Willow was just emerging from her tent too.

Willow yawned, "Fine thanks. It took me a while to actually get off to sleep, but it was alright once I actually got off to sleep. Maybe sleeping out in the forest isn't as bad as I thought it would be," she replied.

Nate and Willow packed their tents away and they continued their walk to Jubilife City.

It luckily didn't take them too much longer now that it was light again, and they made a quick stop in the pokémon centre so they could call their parents to tell them their journey was going well thus far.

Victoria was relieved to hear that Kyra, Nate, and Willow had made it safely to Jubilife City and had camped out for the night without any issues. Riolu was a little shy about Victoria, but with Kyra's reassurance, Riolu became slightly more comfortable around her.

That afternoon, the group decided it would be a good idea to catch some pokémon on Route 203. All of them felt that they needed some more variety to their teams; the abundance of pokémon in the area would help them achieve that.

As the group looked for some pokémon, Riolu sat on Kyra's head to get a higher vantage point. Although Riolu's attempt at being higher up wasn't very successful, Kyra still let her have her way.

It took a while for anyone to see anything, Riolu suddenly got very excited and carefully jumped down to the floor, calling out to the pokémon she had seen in the grass.

The pokémon responded to Riolu's call and came out from the grass, it was clearly intimidated by Riolu's loud call, but it was willing to battle anyway.

This time Willow was the one to get her pokédex out, Riolu had already told Kyra what the pokémon was, whereas Nate had already ran off to follow a pokémon he had just seen.

"Shinx, the Flash pokémon, an Electric Type. The extension and contraction of this pokémon's muscle generates electricity. If this pokémon feels threatened, its fur glows to temporarily blind the foe,"

Kyra knew that a Shinx would make a good member to her team, if she could catch her that is.

"Mind if I try catching you Shinx?" Kyra asked, not wanting to catch Shinx if she didn't want to be caught.

Shinx nodded, she was willing to become Kyra's pokémon.

"Alright, thanks Shinx. Riolu, weaken Shinx a little with Quick Attack," Kyra said, thinking back to what she had learnt in the Trainer's School.

Riolu took Shinx by surprise by how quick she was, not managing to avoid the attack in time.

Kyra had a pokéball at the ready, knowing that this was the opportunity she needed to try and catch Shinx.
