Chapter 7 - A Storm Begins Brewing

Shinx was the first one up the next morning, she stretched to wake herself up and quietly undid the zip of the tent to see how light it was outside.

The sun was shining through the trees in front of Shinx, she could guess that it was early morning. As much as she wanted to explore, she didn't want to go alone, but she didn't want to wake Kyra, Riolu, or Piplup either. In the end, Shinx decided to brave her fear and went out into the Meadow.

The early morning sun combined with the smell of the flowers Shinx was waking around in made her feel somewhat relaxed. It was as if the flowers had some sort of property that calmed nerves, something Shinx had never really felt before. All this time, Shinx had practically been terrified of even her own shadow. But now, now she had found Kyra that was, she was beginning to come out of her shell a bit and felt braver than she had ever done before.

However, Shinx's fearlessness could only be short lived. As a result of drifting off into her own world, Shinx had got lost in the vast Meadow, the flowers surrounding her now were almost twice her height and she had no way of seeing which way she had to go to get back to the tent.

Shinx tried to jump up above the height of the flowers, but even when she did, she still couldn't see the tent. She was well and truly lost.

To make matters worse, Shinx had unknowingly walked too close to a Combee wall. The Combee hadn't taken too kindly to Shinx being so close and as such wanted to target her to show her not to mess with them.

Shinx heard the angry buzzing behind her, she saw the horde of Combee flying towards her. She didn't know what to do, as it stood right now, she didn't really have any attacks she could use to defend herself since Bite and Tackle were only focused on one target at a time.

Shinx's fur began glowing, emitting a bright light that stopped the Combee in their tracks. If Shinx wasn't able to defend herself via attacking, she would have to use her natural defense mechanism.

But now there was a problem, Shinx still had no idea where to run to escape.

Shinx ran through the flowers in an attempt to out run the Combee, hoping she would be able to find the tent again in the process.

Despite Shinx's attempts to get away safely, her attempt was abruptly stopped when she ran into something much larger than her. Shinx wearily stepped back, for the first time seeing what she had ran into.

A large yellow and black pokémon loomed over Shinx. It turned to face her and it too began angrily buzzing like the Combee had done before.

Shinx was even more scared now, the Combee from before had caught up and she was trapped with no means of escape. She had never been so scared before, the loud buzzing combined with the vast number of pokémon now surrounding her terrified her.

Piplup was the next one awake. He was surprised that the tent was open. Then he saw that Shinx wasn't sleeping beside him anymore.

"Kyra, Riolu! Shinx is missing! We need to find her!" Piplup said, jumping onto the sleeping back and using Peck to wake Kyra and Riolu up.

Kyra and Riolu quickly woke up, neither one having expected Piplup to wake them with Peck. Piplup frantically said that Shinx was missing again, Kyra began worrying and told Riolu and Piplup to go and look for Shinx; planning to join them once she had changed.

Piplup jumped onto Riolu's shoulders to try and see if he could see Shinx anywhere, but he couldn't see her anywhere.

"Do you think Shinx ran away?" Piplup asked, worried that Shinx had left with no intentions of coming back.
