The morning after returning home, Kyra let herself sleep in for a bit. Lucario and Glaceon were both still tired themselves from battling the Sinnoh League, so Kyra settled back to sleep with them.
Kyra, Lucario, and Glaceon were eventually woken up by Victoria's cocnern. Victoria knew that Kyra never slept in as late as this, so she felt the need to check on her.
"Hmm? What time is it?" Kyra asked, still half asleep.
"It's coming on one in the afternoon, I'm sure you can see why I was worried. You three must be hungry by now, surely?" Victoria replied, relief rushed over her now she knew Kyra and her partner's were OK.
The trio shared a laugh, considering they were normally the ones up first, a lie-in like this was all too deserved. Kyra quickly got herself ready and went downstairs, Lucario and Glaceon close behind. Neither of them intended on going out for the day, not when there was Brycen movies to watch.
Victoria had Lucario and Glaceon's food already in their bowls for them, she had fed the rest of Kyra's pokémon on her behalf, all of which were now playing in the garden together.
"Do I not get breakfast too? Bit rude Mum," Kyra asked jokingly.
Victoria smiled, "I was wondering if you wanted to go out and grab something to eat? Of course there's no obligation, it's just a suggestion."
"I'd rather not today, if that's alright. I know I wasn't away from home for all that long since I was last back here, but I didn't really have all that much time to catch up with you. I want to tell you all about my journey...after I watch the new Beartic and the Meteor Clash of course," Kyra replied.
Victoria wasn't surprised by Kyra's desires to watch the movie. She too quite liked them, so she sat down with Kyra and her pokémon to re-watch Enter the Beartic so Kyra's pokémon understood any references to the movie.
It pleased Victoria seeing Kyra so happy. She knew how hard things had been for Kyra in the past, to say she was proud of Kyra for pushing through would be an understatement. Once a girl who was terrified of pokémon, now a girl who defeated the strongest Champion Sinnoh had ever seen.
Kyra was normally rather partial to hugs, but today, she had barely left Victoria alone. At first Victoria had thought it to be Kyra having just missed her, but she soon caught onto something else being behind it.
"I know you love your cuddles, but I need to go and start preparing dinner if you want your favourite. Is there anything you want to talk to me about, is something troubling you?" Victoria asked after Kyra had finished telling her all about her journey through the Sinnoh Region.
Kyra was torn between letting Victoria go and cook dinner and keeping up the cuddle. She decided to let Victoria go and instead seek comfort in her father's scarf. Part of her had been hoping that her success in beating Cynthia would have made him come back, but that hadn't been the case. She wanted to know who and where her father was, not so she could let her anger out over feeling abandoned, but so that she could try and understand why he had left.
"Oh baby, I'm sorry. You really miss him, don't you?" Victoria noticed, Kyra wrapping the scarf around her like a blanket a clear sign of the comfort she was missing.
Kyra nodded but stayed quiet. She didn't want to speak in case it caused tears. Today was supposed to be a happy day of celebration, she didn't want to dwell on anything that would ruin that.
Kyra's pokémon sensed their trainer's negativity and they comforted her whilst Victoria went to cook dinner. They had all heard just how much Kyra wanted to see her father again, whoever, or wherever he was.
