Kyra headed to the battle field with Lucario and Eevee, she was still a bit weary about taking on Fantina after the successes Nate and Willow had had. Lucario and Eevee had picked up on Kyra's worry and they knew they had to make sure they won for her.
Fantina knew exactly which two pokémon she was going to use. She admired Kyra for wanting a double battle challenge after their last battle, but she was by no means going to go easy on her.
Since Lucario and Eevee were already on the field, all that was left before the start of the battle was for Fantina to send out her pokémon. Kyra could predict that Fantina would send out Mismagius as one of her pokèmon, then the other one was a complete mystery.
"Don't look so stressed Kyra, you and your pokémon won't enjoy the battle if you stress too much. Just relax and take the battle as it comes. Mismagius, Dusknoir, let's go," Fantina said, sending out her two pokémon.
Kyra took a double take as she saw Dusknoir, it was clearly stronger than Mismagius by a long shot. Was this Fantina's ultimate ace?
"Dusknoir, the Gripper pokémon, a Ghost Type, and the final evolved form of Duskull. This pokémon is feared among people due to travelling to unknown worlds. It is believed to transport lost spirits to these uncharted territories, no one knows what happens after that,"
The pokédex entry sent shivers down Kyra's spine, not only that, but it was a battle of two fully evolved pokémon against Lucario and Eevee. The odds were far from in her favour.
But she couldn't give up before the battle had even started.
Kyra and her pokémon took another minute or so to compose themselves, everything was riding on Kyra's combination working.
"We'll have the first move. Mismagius, use Psybeam. Dusknoir, use Rock Slide," Fantina called, seeming to have her plan already well thought through.
Normally trainers would freak out at Dusknoir's access to Rock Slide, a similar reaction to what she was expecting from Kyra. But Kyra's confident smirk took Fantina by surprise. She had fallen right into Kyra's trap.
"Lucario, use Bone Rush to block Rock Slide and Psybeam then attack Dusknoir. Eevee, jump in between the rocks and then use Bite on Mismagius," Kyra said calmly, making her move as if she hadn't been worrying about the Battle in the slightest.
Dusknoir's barrage of rocks fell towards Lucario and Eevee as Mismagius charged up her Psybeam, making her attack stronger in an attempt to overpower Lucario's blocking strength. Both Lucario and Eevee got themselves ready to follow their trainer's plan.
Lucario formed a Bone Rush and span it so as to deflect away the rocks from Rock Slide, as well as preparing herself for Psybeam. Eevee on the other hand jumped up as the rocks Lucario deflected away reached her, allowing her to gain a massive high ground and giving her more than enough hight to easily land a hit on Mismagius.
"Now you two," Kyra called, seeing the opening she had been waiting for to make her move.
Lucario and Eevee readied their attacks, both of them had their targets in their sights and knew they couldn't afford to miss their attack.
Eevee jumped down using Bite and hit Mismagius hard, stopping her from firing her Psybeam and giving Lucario an opening to attack Dusknoir, jumping back so she was out of direct range.
Lucario was appreciative of Eevee making her move that bit easier, readying herself to attack Dusknoir with Bone Rush.
"Dusknoir, hit Lucario away with Shadow Punch," Fantina said, hoping that Lucario wouldn't be able to out manoeuvre Dusknoir.
