"Now use Slash," Mars called.
Purugly took advantage of Riolu being in close and she flung her into the wall behind Kyra with Slash, just as Mars had planned.
"Riolu!" Kyra exclaimed, worried that Riolu had been badly hurt by being flung into the wall.
"I'm fine, I won't be taken down that easily," Riolu replied, getting up to continue battling.
As Riolu stood back up, she began emitting a blinding glow, much to Kyra's surprise and Mars' annoyance.
Riolu's grew taller, her tail and ears too. She grew spikes on her paws and one on her chest too. Finally, the two appendages she had by her ears multiplied to four.
The glowing stopped and Kyra saw that Riolu looked different now, she got out her pokédex and checked Riolu out for herself.
"Lucario, the Aura pokémon, a Fighting and Steel Type, and the evolved form of Riolu. By reading the auras of opponents, Lucario can predict their movements and figure out their strategies. When a Lucario comes to trusts its trainer, it is one of the most loyal pokémon and will do anything to protect their trainer,"
Lucario walked over to be standing in front of Kyra again, ready to continue battling Purugly.
"Let's see if Lucario really is willing to protect you or not. Purugly, use Slash," Mars said, curious to see how Lucario would react to Kyra being targeted instead.
Kyra had complete trust in Lucario and didn't even flinch as Purugly leapt at her. However, Lucario didn't seem to be making any attempt to protect her trainer.
Just as Purugly got in range to attack, Lucario formed a Bone Rush between her paws and she used it to stop Purugly from hurting Kyra. Lucario used a Force Palm to hit Purugly back towards Mars, leaving her unable to battle in the process.
"Purugly, return. You battled well. I would congratulate you for winning if you were on Team Galactic's side, but you're not, so I won't. Don't expect to get so lucky next time, Team Galactic don't take kindly to stronger trainers causing trouble," Mars said, returning Purugly to her pokéball and walking away with the two Grunts who had also just been defeated by Nate and Willow.
Lucario walked over to Kyra, "Well, what do you think?" she asked, hoping Kyra would be proud of her evolving.
Kyra hugged Lucario, ensuring she was careful of her chest spike. "You look amazing. You now know Bone Rush too. I'm so proud of you," she said.
Lucario was glad that Kyra liked her new form, she was glad that Purugly had given her the final push she needed to reach her final form of Lucario, now she could protect Kyra to a much better extent.
Instead of staying in the pokémon centre again overnight, the group decided to find somewhere to camp in Eterna Forest. It was fairly late by the time they had found somewhere suitable to set up their camp. Luckily there was still enough light for Kyra and Lucario to go and find some fire wood once they had set up their tent.
Lucario sensed the surroundings to find the perfect wood she and Kyra needed. She could sense that Kyra had a bit of a temper and kept quiet until Kyra spoke up first.
Kyra wasn't really paying attention to where she was going and ended up tripping over a root and faceplanting on the forest floor. She was now even more annoyed than before and was far from herself.
"You alright? Sorry I didn't stop you from tripping over. Do you need a hand up?" Lucario asked, walking over to Kyra to help her up.
Kyra hit Lucario's paw away, "I'm not a child, I can stand up by myself!" she snapped, attempting to get up by herself.
