As Kyra came round, she heard a faint beeping which left her confused. What had happened? she had thought. She opened her eyes to try and locate the source of the annoying beeping, but the bright light shining down on her made her eyes shut again as a protection mechanism.
Kyra wracked her brain to try and figure out what was going on. The last thing she remembered had been being in immense pain. But why?
After a few minutes of drawing continuous blanks, Kyra tried opening her eyes again, this time being much slower about it.
From what she could gather, she was in a hospital room. The beeping was coming from the heart rate monitor she was hooked up to on her right. On her left was a machine was multiple wires coming out from it, the wires making their way under the blanket she was lying under.
Panic quickly set in. She remembered hearing a loud bang that was loud enough to have been an explosion. Could she have been hit in the blast? Her whole body was aching like mad, so that thought was easily justified.
What about Nate and Willow? Had they been hurt too? Where were they? What about her pokémon? The constant questioning and fearing the worst made Kyra break down, she just wanted answers.
Kyra's throat quickly grew dry as she cried, she was desperate for a drink of water, but she was completely alone.
She tried to sit up, but her attempt was quickly stopped by the fact she was too weak. There was nothing she could do. She just had to wait.
After what seemed like hours later - when in reality it was all of about two minutes - a nurse came to check in on Kyra. She was glad to see that Kyra was finally awake, but was concerned by the fact she had tried moving so soon.
"Hey, just calm down. You won't be moving anytime soon if you want to recover. There's a lot of electricity flowing through your body, the machine to your left is slowly draining it away from you, but it's a long process," the nurse explained, trying trying get Kyra to calm down and stop trying to move.
Kyra did as she was told and stopped trying to move, it wasn't going to get her anywhere. "You said there's electricity in my body, how?" she asked.
"You had just finished your battle against the Pastoria City Gym Leader when your Luxray used Discharge on you," the nurse explained.
As Kyra was told what happened, she gradually remembered what had occurred before she fell unconscious. There had been two loud bang and Luxray had got stressed, hence using Discharge to protect herself. It made sense why she was in so much pain now.
"Your mother has come to see you and check in on you by the way, do you want me to tell her she can come in?" the nurse asked after making sure the electrical conductors to drain Kyra's body of the electricity were still attached where they needed to be.
Kyra was anxious about seeing Victoria again after their argument. The last thing she needed now was to make things worse between them, but by denying Victoria from seeing her would one hundred percent cause issues.
She agreed to let Victoria come and check on her, hoping that they'd be able to overcome their argument. Kyra was surprised that Victoria had come at all, she knew Victoria hated hospitals and would avoid them at all costs after an incident that happened just before Kyra turned seven, although she didn't remember what said incident was.
Kyra tried to keep her nerves at bay as she waited. She couldn't tell if she was shivering from the pain she was in, how cold it was in the room, or nerves. Perhaps it was a mixture of all three. Whatever the cause of it, it was far from pleasant and she wanted it to stop.
