Kyra was woken up by Lucario and Glaceon moving around the next morning. It was still dark inside the tent, so Kyra sat up and tried to figure out what her partner's were worried about.
"Everything alright?" Kyra asked, putting her glasses on and getting cosy with her blanket to stay warm.
The two pokémon nodded and Lucario unzipped the tent.
"Come sit, Cynthia's Garchomp told us the sunrise is a nice thing to watch up here. We thought we could do it together," Glaceon explained, she and Lucario tapping the space between them to encourage Kyra to lie down with them.
Kyra moved over to the front of the tent as her pokémon wanted her to. She lifted the blanket up to cover Lucario and Glaceon too, the trio snuggling up together as they watched the sunrise.
Due to the League being the second highest point of the Sinnoh Region, it made for a great place to view both sunsets and sunrises. Kyra and her pokémon led down quietly together in awe of the view before them. The peace and quiet that they experienced just for themselves, a calm they all needed.
Lucario and Glaceon were quiet for the rest of the morning, not having eaten breakfast and instead they just stayed in the tent in Kyra's sleeping bag. Kyra was worried as any good trainer would be, but she was happy to wait for Nate and Willow to have gone into the League to talk to them. At least that way they could talk properly.
Nate challenged the League first. From what Kyra knew from Lucian, Nate's main challenge would be Bertha and her Ground Types. Kyra tried not to make it seem that she knew just as much as she did about the Elite Four, she had met them all before and had been making strategies to battle them for as long as she remembered. She felt it was cheating in a way, having an advantage that Nate and Willow didn't have.
Aaron, the first Elite Four Member challengers faced, came out just over an hour after Nate had gone in to let Willow know the League was ready to face her next. Very cleverly, Aaron had said nothing about Nate's progress no matter how much Willow tried to ask. Kyra didn't know whether or not she'd want to know how Nate did, she knew an hour wasn't enough time for him to have got to Cynthia, so he must have lost to Bertha or Flint, possibly Lucian if he had a quick first couple of battles. Either way, Kyra finally had the opportunity to talk to Lucario and Glaceon.
Kyra returned her other pokémon to their pokéballs, both so they could prepare themselves for the League and so that she could talk to her partners alone. She brought some of their food with her to check on them, hoping she could persuade to at least eat something.
The second Kyra got back into her tent, Lucario and Glaceon jumped at her to cuddle up, crying as they did so. Kyra was even more concerned than before and tried to get to the bottom of what was wrong.
"We don't want you to forget about us when you go to your next Region. We've enjoyed travelling with you Kyra, we don't want to stop," Glaceon cried, speaking for both herself and Lucario.
Kyra understood her partner's fears of abandonment, she would never stoop to that level of course, but it didn't make seeing her pokémon upset any easier. "I wouldn't forget you, I couldn't forget any of the pokémon I've trained. To be honest, I haven't really thought of who I'll take with me next. It'll be one of you two for sure since I really appreciate the company you give me, but that doesn't mean I'll forget the one of you who doesn't come with me. Think about it, I can always use any of the pokémon I train when I need to, this won't be the last time we battle with each other, remember that," she comforted.
Lucario and Glaceon calmed down slightly now that they knew their trainer wouldn't forget them. Deep down, they both knew who was the more likely one to continue travelling with Kyra for the long term.
After the two had eaten, Kyra asked for help packing away the tent. Lucario and Glaceon let Kyra relax and packed away the tent themselves to save Kyra the trouble, the two enjoyed working together and now was no different. Having grown so close to one another as friends, the two had no hard feelings about one of them going with Kyra and the other staying in Sinnoh. Kyra was glad to see the two getting along so well, her emotional side spiking once more since she didn't want to separate their friendship.
Lucario and Glaceon came for more cuddles after they had neatly packed the tent away. Kyra was happy to give them the extra attention since they had time to spare, plus it gave her time to calm down too.
Not long after, Aaron came out again to say the League was ready to face Kyra. From what Kyra could gather, Willow had been battling for about the same amount of time as Nate. They had most likely reached the same point, giving her even more motivation. Normally Kyra didn't want to boast her battling prowess, but now she had no reason not to. The League was the most difficult challenge a trainer can face in a Region, if they don't give it their all, there's no point in challenging them at all.
Lucario and Glaceon were as determined as their trainer, they had worked hard for these five battles along with the rest of Kyra's team. Now was the time they could show Kyra just how hard they had worked, their true potential could shine through now more than ever before.
