song: i'll be missing you - puff daddy & faith evans
3rd poc
loki stood up from his chair walked up to the force field, peering out of his cell as he heard a commotion. the guards were dead, and all of the prisoners that had been brought in were breaking out of their cells.
he made eye contact with one of the former prisoners. they slowed down to a stop and approached. loki smiled evilly.
the former prisoner turned abruptly and began walking away. more guards entered the dungeons.
"you might want to take the stairs to the left," loki said, and the former prisoner turned around to look at him before walking away.
y/n was with thor, jane, and frigga when they all heard an alarm start blaring. they all stood up and looked out at the city.
"the prisons," frigga said. thor turned to frigga, glancing at y/n for a split second.
"loki.." he said.
"go," frigga said, nodding to thor, "i will look after her."
thor nodded gratefully and turned to leave the room. y/n looked between thor and frigga, wanting to go after loki as well.
"you may go, too," frigga said to y/n. he didn't waste any time, running out of the room and after loki.
he ran at full speed, but because he couldn't fly like thor, it was taking him much longer to get to the prison. he was glad he'd been training with sif and the warriors three, otherwise he'd be on the floor and out of breath by now.
y/n slowed down when he saw a trail of dead guards leading back to where frigga was, and he looked at them with horror. this wasn't loki's doing. they were after jane.
y/n grabbed a sword off of the ground and ran back to where frigga and jane were. he was terrified. terrified for frigga, and terrified that thor would lose the woman he loves. he ran faster than ever had before, almost slipping a few times as he turned corners.
he heard thor scream, and that's when he knew.
he ran through the door just to see the dark elf lord fall off of the balcony, he looked around frantically, and his eyes shot to the ground where he saw frigga laying there. his sword dropped from his hands.
he screamed in agony and ran to her body, cradling it in his arms as he cried. he tried to heal her, but he was too distraught to conjure any magic. he sobbed as he held his hands over where she was stabbed, desperately trying to heal her.
blood began seeping from her mouth and y/n only cried harder. thor watched the scene, no air in his lungs as he tried to process what just happened.
y/n didn't look up when he saw an older, more wrinkled hand reach out and wipe the blood off of frigga's face. he knew it was odin.
"i'm sorry," y/n cried out, guilt overcoming him, "i tried to heal her i-- i tried so hard! i'm so sorry."
"enough, child. this is not your doing," odin said to y/n.
y/n had to be pried away from frigga's body, he refused to let it go. when they finally had him off, he'd gone unresponsive. he walked silently with the guards, and they shared a look with each other before leaving him alone in his room.
he cried all night and day. he was unable to eat, unable to sleep. thor was able to get him to drink water, but that was it. he stopped visiting loki.
the funeral was the hardest part, because y/n knew he'd have to let go of frigga. he held back his sobs, silent tears flowing down his face he watched frigga float farther and farther away. and soon, she was at the cliff, water running off of the edge. the boat sailed and floated in the emptiness for a moment before it dropped.
she flittered away in a blue light, and everyone stood silently. y/n held a hand over his mouth as he tried to silence his a cries. he felt a hand on his back. he looked to see thor standing there, looking at him sorrowfully.
blue orb-like lanterns filled the sky and they all looked up to watch them float up into the stars.
thor gave y/n a quick hug and walked away with jane beside him.

y/n felt sluggish. his eyes were swollen and red, and his body felt weak from the lack of nutrition and sleep. he slowly made his way to the prisons, intending on checking up on loki. he hadn't been able to bring himself to see loki since frigga died.
the amount of guilt he harbored within himself over the death of frigga had kept him away. but he cared about loki, and if anyone needed support right now, it was him.
y/n felt anxious upon entering the dungeon, he feared that loki would hate him for not being able to save frigga.
he was now standing face to face with him, staring into his eyes. loki scanned his face, taking note of how his eyes were sunken in but still swollen, his discolored complexion, and his ungroomed hair.
"turn off the barrier," y/n said to the guard.
"i'm not permitted to do that, sir," the guard replied sternly. in the blink of an eye, y/n had the guard pinned to the wall.
"turn it off now or i swear to god i'll kill you," y/n said, glaring darkly at the guard. the guard nodded frantically and y/n let go of him.
loki had never seen y/n so angry, the mixture of rage and despair as he snapped at the guard spoke a thousand words about what he was feeling.
the wall of light disappeared, and loki watched as y/n stepped up into the cell. he had tears in his eyes as he looked at loki.
y/n's lip quivered, and he had to look away from loki's face. he tried furiously to blink the tears away, but that only made them fall faster. he wiped them away and stepped closer to loki, only a few inches between them now.
"you don't have to hide, loki," y/n muttered, and loki let out a sigh. the illusion loki created disappeared, and his real state became visible. he was sitting dejectedly against the wall. all of the things in his cell were destroyed, strewn about the floor.
y/n gasped lightly as he saw loki. his regal clothing was gone, a simple green long-sleeved shirt and pants occupied his body. his hair was disheveled and there were dark circles under his eyes.
the air was knocked out of y/n's lungs at the sight. he approached loki slowly and sat down in front of him.
"loki," y/n's voice cracked as he spoke, "i'm so sorry."
his voice was barely a whisper, afraid that if he spoke any louder he'd cry.
"did she suffer?" loki asked, so much pain in his voice.
"no. she went quick," y/n said, trying not to hold his tears back.
loki sighed again as he stared at the floor. he was trying to hold in his own tears. he was able to at the start, but seeing y/n so distressed and upset on top of it made it hard. before he knew it, tears were falling uncontrollably down his face.
he felt them roll down his face and down his neck. and y/n stared at him with both shock and sadness.
wearily, y/n reached out to loki with his hands. when loki didn't protest or push him away, he gently pulled him into his arms. he wrapped his arms around loki's neck and cradled his head in his shoulder.
loki was stiff for a moment, unmoving. his chest heaved as he held in sobs, but he eventually collapsed in y/n's arms and hugged him back tightly as he cried into his shoulder.
y/n rocked loki back and forth as they both cried, running his hands through his hair and rubbing his back to comfort him.
they held each other for a long time, not wanting to let go.
