3rd pov

the ship rumbled violently, everything shaking and vibrating. the bed under y/n was tremoring, shaking him off of the bed entirely. he hit the floor hard, hitting his head on the frame of the bed. if he wasn't awake before, he definitely was now.

"fuck!" he cursed, rubbing at the spot on his head where he hit it. his body ached and was stiff, but he didn't feel as terrible as before. he pushed himself off of the ground and was on his hands and knees when the ship shook again, causing him to lose his balance and fall.

that's when he felt wrong, something was very deeply wrong. he stood still and held his breath, listening closely to any noise. he could hear distant booms, each causing a tremor afterwards. he tried to summon a weapon and was successful, but he could feel it physically drain him immediately. blood rushed in his ears and he gulped as he walked as silently as possible.

he could hear the cries and screams of the asgardian civilians and immediately picked up speed. he was near jogging down the halls towards the sounds now. he came up on the opening and was ready to burst in when he heard an unrecognizable voice speak.

"...rejoice, you have had the privilege of being saved by the great titan," the voice said. y/n peaked around the corner and watched. he put a hand over his mouth to silence his gasp at the mayhem in the room.

asgardian men, women, children... dead. the unrecognized alien stepped over their bodies like they were nothing. like they were trash.

"you may think this is suffering. no... it is salvation!" the alien continued to speak. "universal scales," he began to explain, "...tip toward balance because of your sacrifice."

y/n grimaced at his face. y/n mentally named him voldemort 2.0... with a worse hair-do.

"smile," voldemort 2.0 said as an alien guard stabbed another asgardian. "for even in death, you have become children of thanos."

y/n finally saw loki standing there in the middle of all of the bodies. voldemort 2.0 stepped around him, pushing his fingers together as he preached. y/n wanted to run to loki, wanted hold him one last time. this was a very real threat and he'd give anything to hold loki in case it was the last time he ever would. but he refrained. he held back.

voldemort 2.0 hadn't noticed him, and that gave him an advantage.

ahead of loki stood a large purple alien in golden armor. he gazed at a star through the window, his face still not visible yet. he turned, shifting and stepping as he took a deep breath.

"i know what it's like to lose," the titan began, finally turning completely around. "to feel so desperately that you're right... yet to fail, nonetheless." he spoke, walking towards loki.

y/n tightened his grip around his spear. the titan walked forward more and then stopped beside something. he bent down and picked it up. thor groaned as thanos picked him up like he weighed nothing.

"it's frightening," thanos said. "turns the legs to jelly. i ask you, to what end? dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same."

he walked towards loki again, loki's neck craning to keep looking him in the face.

"and now... it's here. or should i say," he held up his fist and clenched it, a purple stone embedded in his glove beginning to glow. "i am."

he held thor with his other hand, who was coughing and spitting blood out of mouth. he groaned as thanos jerked him forward.

"you talk too much," thor choked out.

loki held thanos' gaze, stubbornly not looking away.

"...the tesseract." thanos held up thor. "or... your brother's head. i assume you have a preference?" thanos asked.
