song: Killing Me Softly With His Song - Fugees

3rd pov

fury stood outside the operating room as he watched the surgeons work on y/n. the doctors worked hard to keep y/n alive, his condition extremely unstable.

he watched as y/n started seizing. the doctors scrambled to stop it and get him still again, but nothing was working. his heart rate increased, reaching a bpm of 210.

and then, that dreadful sound. that long, continuous note. y/n had flatlined. fury looked down at the ground.

the doctors got ready to shock him with the defibrillator. but before they could, y/n's heart rate picked up again. they gasped in shock as the open wound in y/n's abdomen started healing rapidly. fury looked up, his eye widening as he watched the scene before him.

y/n glowed with light as all of his injuries healed in a matter of seconds. his eyes shot open and he looked around. he sat up with a start and immediately brought his hands to stomach. he breathed heavily as he realized what just happened.

he looked around at his surroundings wildly before he saw fury behind the window, watching him. fury looked almost... scared of him.

he stood up off the operating, and the doctors rushed to push him back down on the bed. he got overwhelmed by all the hands on him and shoved them away, but instantly regretted it when the doctors flew a few feet backwards.

he stared in shock, looking at the doctors at the ground and then up at fury. he got off the operating table for the second time and walked out of the operating room. he stopped and turned to fury for a moment, but then walked off in the other direction with his head in his hands.

y/n made it back to the room he was staying in and sat on the bed, his mind scrambling to try and remember what happened. he remembered lying in loki's lap, as the god stared down at him, and then going unconscious soon after that.

and now he's here, completely healed and uninjured. and now that he's had time to calm down, he realized that he feels better than he ever has before. he felt strong and powerful. he remembered how he launched those doctors away.

and then something flashed in his mind. him, a young boy, shoving away officers just like he had done to the doctors. they flew backwards and landed with a groan.

he had always gotten small visions of memories from when he was a child, but never like that. he never remembers hurting anyone. tears formed in his eyes, and he watched as they fell and hit the floor.

what more does he not remember? fury refused to tell him anything from his childhood, and has never let him go on any missions where he would have to physically exert himself. and he's starting to think this is why. fury was hiding something from him.

y/n stood up, about to leave, but realized he was wearing nothing but his bloodstained sweatpants.

he quickly changed into new clothes, and made his way around the helicarrier, looking for fury. he heard fury shout from inside a room and he started making his way there.

"what do you mean he's asgardian? how do you know?" fury asked aggressively. y/n stopped in his tracks. what?

"we tested his blood, in case we needed to make any transfusions," the doctor said, and y/n quietly crept up to the door, and hid behind the wall as he listened in.

"his blood isn't human. but it shows identical traits with.. thor's." another doctor said.

y/n put a hand over his mouth and looked down. he was asgardian? then why was he here? why did he grow up as a human boy, only starting to exhibit such strength and healing abilities now? he need answers and he needed off of the helicarrier immediately.

he walked away quickly, and fury heard his footsteps. he ran out of the room and saw y/n down the hall.

"y/n!" fury shouted after him, but y/n didn't turn back or even flinch as his name was called.

y/n made his way to the top of the carrier, standing out on the runway and making his way to one of the airships.

"y/n, i forbid you from leaving this helicarrier," a voice said. y/n turned around and he stood face to face with fury.

"yeah? and who's going to stop me?" y/n asked. just then, soldiers holding guns surrounded him, as well as the airships. y/n felt pain in his chest.

"what, so i'm a monster now? you find out i'm not from here and now you keep guns trained on me like i'm some kind of feral animal?" he asked, slowly backing up. fury looked at him sadly.

"you're not right in the head right now, y/n. come back inside and i'll tell you everything," fury said, looking at y/n pleadingly.

y/n thought for a moment. he looked at all of the soldiers who still had their guns on him, and he thought about all of the secrets fury kept from him.

y/n shook his head. his trust had been broken. "no. i don't believe you."

y/n turned and pushed one of the agents aside, and he heard gunshots blast.

"don't shoot, you idiots!" fury yelled.

y/n felt the bullets hit him, and anxiety spread through his body. he looked down at where he was hit, but there was no blood. he lifted up his shirt and saw that there were no holes, either. there was a moment of silence, but then y/n just laughed breathily.

he walked to the edge of the helicarrier and stared down at the clouds. if gunshots couldn't kill him, then falling 30,000 feet probably couldn't either. probably. but y/n didn't think about the consequences. he jumped, and fury yelled for him. he looked up as he fell, and gave fury one last sorrowful look as he fell below the clouds.

y/n turned to look at the ground that was quickly approaching. he suddenly realized what he just did. he looked below him as the ground got closer and closer. he screamed, and covered his face as he braced for impact.

people nearby turned their heads quickly as a loud boom rang in their ears. dust flew up into the air around the area.

y/n lay in a tiny crater, staring up at the sky as he breathed heavily.

"i'm alive?,' he asked himself, "i'm alive!"

"oh my god, he's alive," someone said, and y/n looked to see a guy and two little girls looking over the edge of the crater and at him.

"are you an alien, mister?" one of the girls asked.

"n--" y/n began to say. he paused for a moment. "yes. i'm an alien. i come in peace."

y/n groaned as he sat up, wiping the dirt off of himself. although he survived, it surely hurt a hell of a lot now that his adrenaline rush was over.

the little girls gasped and hid behind their father, who stood protectively in front of them.

y/n gasped and stretched, all of his bones popping and cracking in different places. he turned to the man and nodded, and then proceeded to climb out of his crater. he looked around him, tall grass and wildflowers surrounding him.

"sir, where is the nearest city?" y/n asked, and the man wordlessly pointed to the city just over the hill.

"oh, how did i not see that?" y/n asked himself, nodding in thanks to the man and walking towards the city.

he looked at the buildings, most on fire, smoke rising into the atmosphere. he figured that it was loki's doing. he sighed, not having the energy to really care at the moment.

he made it to the city, and wandered aimlessly trying to get ahold of his surroundings. he heard screams and saw a group of people running away from a strange, purplish blue alien. it turned and noticed him, and screeched. it ran towards him, but before it could do anything, he grabbed it by the back of the head and slammed it into a brick building. it's body slumped.

he heard cheers behind him and he turned around. the civilians were cheering him and taking videos and pictures.

"do any of you know where i could find a library?"
