3rd pov

it had been weeks now, almost a month since loki found himself on sakaar. a strange place, really. a place where lost things are found, but never truly. a place where lost things become even more lost. lost beneath the lies. lost beneath desires that drag them deeper into the depths of despair. loki was no exception.

loki was most definitely lost. lost without his lover. lost without —dare he say it— his brother there to nag him every second. he was able to bear only for a couple days living without y/n by his side. but after that, it was turmoil.

loki's mind was filled with y/n and y/n only. he'd look out the window of his suite, so generously supplied by the grandmaster, and think only of y/n.

y/n would think this particular shade of blue was pretty, loki thought. that's why he wore such a color. y/n would hate the red and white striped walls of the room, so loki hated them as well. all his mind was capable of doing was thinking about y/n, y/n, and more y/n.

he could tell he was losing himself. and the only remedy that would wash away his despair was the alcohol and the crowd. that's where he found himself these days. a glass in hand and a crowd around him.

when he thought up stories to entertain the people, for a moment, and only for a moment, was he not thinking about y/n. that's all he could do, otherwise he'd have spiraled into nothingness. lost. lost to never be found again.

so when he heard his name being called by a familiar voice, his efforts to forget everything came crashing down on him. his smile, albeit it very fake and very forced, disappeared upon sight of his brother. oh, how he missed thor. so much. but of course he could never let thor know that. he himself didn't even want to acknowledge it.

he set his drink down and stomped towards the blond man, who was oddly strapped to a chair.

"sssshh! shhh!" he said desperately, trying to shush thor. he couldn't let these people know that he was related to thor. that would ruin everything.

"what?" thor whisper yelled.

"you're alive?" loki whispered back, looking thor up and down.

and suddenly, a glimmer if hope sparked inside of loki. if thor was here.. then what about y/n? he buried those thoughts as quickly as they came.

"yes! of course i'm alive!" thor said, his voice raising out of a whisper slightly.

"what are you doing here?" loki asked, and thor looked at him weirdly.

"what do you mean what am i doing?" thor looked down at his arms and struggled against his restraints. "i'm stuck in this stupid chair!"

thor realized loki wasn't in a chair like he was.

"where's your chair?" he asked.

"i didn't get a chair."

"well, get me out of this one!"

"i can't."

"get me out!"

"i can't!"

"what?"

loki drew in a deep breath to calm himself. he takes back ever missing his imbecile of a brother.

"i've made friends with this man, he's called the grandmaster," loki explained.

thor huffed at the mention of the grandmaster. "oh, he's crazy!"

"i've gained his favor. the bifrost brought me out here weeks ago," loki said, and thor squinted at him.

"weeks ago?" thor asked, shaking his head in disbelief.

"yes!" loki said, getting agitating at thor's lack of understanding.

"i just got here! and if we're both here then where's y/n?"

loki frowned deeply and squeezed his eyes shut, the mention of y/n making him want to break down and sob right in front of everybody. but he refused to do so.

both of them remained oblivious to the grandmaster who now stood beside them.

"what are we whispering about?" the grandmaster whispered to them.

loki jumped away from thor, who let out a small shout and stared at the grandmaster with disgust.

the grandmaster smiled. "time works real different around these parts. on any other world i'd be like, uh.. billions of years old!"

thor and loki stared at him blankly.

"but here on sakaar..." the grandmaster trailed off, looking between the two men, his eyebrows twitching upwards a bit.

"in any case," the grandmaster said, looking at loki and pointing to thor, "you know this.. uh, this— you call yourself, what is it, lord of thunder?"

"god of thunder," thor replied, smiling bitterly at the grandmaster. thor looked at loki desperately.

"tell him!" he whispered to loki, who just chuckled nervously and shook his head.

"i've never met this man in my life," loki said, a nervous smile on his lips.

"he's my brother!" thor growled, struggling against his restraints again.

"adopted," loki said firmly, shaking his head.

"is he any kind of a fighter?" the grandmaster asked.

thor smiled wickedly at the grandmaster, chuckling a bit as he tried to suppress his anger. "you take this thing out of my nack and i'll show you."

the grandmaster laughed along with him. "now listen to that, he's threatening me! you sound just like another fellow we brought in about a month and a half ago. feisty little guy. pretty, too."

the grandmaster's smile faded a bit. "hey, sparkles, here's the deal. if you wanna get back to... ass-place, uhm— assberg?"

"asgard!" thor interjected angrily.

"any contender who defeats my champion, their freedom they shall win," the grandmaster said, his conniving grin back on his face.

"fine, then point me in the direction of whoever's ass i have to kick!" thor said, glaring at the grandmaster.

"that's what i call..." the grandmaster waved his fingers at thor, "...contender~!"

the grandmaster clicked something on thor's remote.

"the direction would be this way, lord," the grandmaster said, and thor's chair turned and started moving away.

"aagh! loki!" thor called out for him, but loki just smiled as he watched thor roll away.

loki held his smile until thor was out of sight, exhaling deeply and letting his face fall when he could no longer see him. loki was no longer in the mood for alcohol and people. he never was, really.

he began leaving, giving fake smiles and weak laughs to anyone who greeted him on the way out. he finally escaped the party hall, sighing in relief.

he made his way back to his suite and collapsed onto the bed. the bed that wasn't nearly as welcoming and comforting as y/n's.

thor was here now. if they both landed here, then who's to say y/n didn't too? y/n could be here!

loki's chest swelled up at the thought. y/n could be here on sakaar.

...but loki'd been here for weeks. and there was no sign of y/n. sure he could be on sakaar, but it was a large place with a large population. the chances of ever finding y/n seemed to get slimmer the more loki thought about it.

any hope loki had for finding y/n had dwindled into nothing just as fast as it came.

poor loki lololol. #loveit when the main character isn't even in the book ☺️☺️☺️
