song: fantasia in d minor k. 397

3rd pov

as the days passed, more and more stuff arrived that filled the originally vacant room.

shelves were now standing against almost every wall, filled books and little trinkets. y/n had scoured the depths of the internet for literature classics.

now his shelves were occupied by compilations of shakespeare's sonnets, old fairy tales, edgar allen poe, poem books, and anything he thought loki might like. and, of course, how he could he forget, the entire twilight saga for loki to read.

the only wall not covered with books was occupied by a dark red couch that matched the grand piano in the middle of the room. above the couch was a large replica painting of alexandre cabanel's 'fallen angel'. on each side of the couch were small end tables with lamps sat in top of them. coasters for drinks were stacked neatly beside them.

loki stepped into the room and gaped, taken away by just how much it changed, he would be lying if he said his heart didn't flutter at all of the books there were.

y/n walked in patted loki's shoulder.

"i ordered a bunch of books i thought you'd like. although midgardian literature is probably a lot more different than asgard's, i'm sure you will still find pleasure in reading some of it." y/n said, walking to the shelves of books.

he pointed to the middle shelf. "here we have edgar allen poe and poem books," y/n pointed to another section, "shakespeare and fairy tales are right here, and then over here is some of my favorite i put there so i could find them easily."

loki made a mental note to look at that section first, eager to see what y/n liked to read.

"it looks magnificent in here, you have a knack for interior design," loki complimented, and y/n just smiled.

"i suppose."

loki's eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the soft golden light shining through his window. it was early in the morning.

the soft muffled sounds of gentle piano playing bounced off of the walls of his room.

he sat himself up and stood up off of the bed, walking to his door and opening it quietly. he stepped out of the bedroom and made his way to the kitchen.

he brewed himself black tea, having taken a liking to the midgardian beverage after y/n had made some for him. he made his way back down the hall and opened the door to the third room, and the sound of the piano rang louder in his ears.

y/n turned his gaze and stopped playing, much to loki's disappointment.

"i'm sorry, did i wake you? i tried to play quietly," y/n, moving to close the piano lid shut. loki stopped the lid from shutting, placing it back up to rest against the piano.

"i enjoy it, please continue," he said gently, taking a sip from his tea and moving to set it down on the end table beside the couch.

y/n started playing again and a smile graced loki's lips. he walked across the room the section that y/n had mentioned was filled with his favorite pieces of literature, and scanned the shelf for a title that stood out to him.

his eyes landed on one, and he reached his hand out and pulled it from the shelf. he scanned it over before deeming it interesting, and plopped down on the couch to indulge in the story.

occasionally taking sips of his tea and reveling in y/n's peaceful piano playing as he read was pure bliss. he had never felt so comfortable, so at peace with everything around him.

sure, he was in a building full of people who hated him, but y/n made it bearable. he made it worth it.

loki waking up to y/n's playing and then making himself tea to drink while he read began to be a routine, and loki wouldnt have it any other way.

a few times when y/n had finished playing piano, he'd grab himself a book and would sit on the opposite side of the couch to read. though, both loki and y/n would inch themselves closer to each other until they couldn't anymore.

they both sat peacefully in each other's warmth as they read.

as the the end of the month grew nearer, loki felt anxious, thoughts of doubt clouding his mind.

"loki, are you okay?" y/n asked, effectively pulling loki out of his thoughts.

"hm?" loki hummed. "oh yes darling, i'm fine."

loki felt hear rise to his cheeks as he realized what he had just called y/n.

y/n felt his fair share of warmth in his cheeks, his heart doing backflips.

"something's on your mind, loki. what is it?" y/n asked, and loki huffed, not wanting to vocalize his concerns.

"it is almost the end of the month," loki said, and y/n just giggled.

"loki, you pass," y/n, brushing a stray black hair out of loki's face. loki blinked

"i do?" he asked.

y/n nodded. "although it's still hard for me to trust that you're not gonna try and leave again, i really want you to at least have a chance at being treated right."

"i'm sorry," loki said.

"i know you are loki, and i forgive you. i just need time." y/n said, and loki nodded.

"well, there's really no reason to wait till the end of the month to let thor know that i say you pass," y/n said, getting up inform thor. loki nodded and stood up, walking along with y/n.

short-ish chapter, only because the next part of this story is too long to write in the same chapter as this one. i'll be writing it right after i publish this, but i'm not sure if i'll have it published by tonight.
