song: only you - yaz
                              3rd pov
"if you trained with sif and the other hooligans, then why don't you have any bruises? surely you would've left with some kind of injury," loki said, staring at the exhausted man laying on the floor in front of his cell.
sif glared at loki for the hooligans comment, but stayed silent.
y/n smiled and looked away bashfully. "frigga is very generous with her healing magic. if it weren't for her i'd probably be miserable."
loki hummed. y/n wished that sif didn't have to supervise him at this moment, he knew that loki was holding himself back because she was around.
he looked at sif and sighed. sif's eyebrow twitched, and it looked like she was contemplating something.
"i have something to tend to for a minute. i will be back soon, so don't get any ideas," sif said, pushing off of the wall she was leaning on. she winked at y/n and turned around.
y/n smiled at her as she left the dungeon. he sat up with excitement, remembering something.
"frigga said that she thinks i'd be good with magic," y/n said, starting a new conversation.
loki nodded his head to the side. he got up from sitting on his bed and took a seat outside the orange energy wall. he studied y/n's face. he looked into his eyes. he was tired, loki could tell.
"well, if frigga thinks you can, then i'm not one to argue. she's the one who taught me how to use magic, after all," loki said. y/n raised his eyebrows in surprise.
he scooted closer, leaning in more. he waited patiently for loki to start telling his stories. loki looked at him, and he turned away as he laughed a tiny bit. y/n felt his heart flutter, that was the first time he had ever heard loki genuinely laugh. he just wished he didn't turn away, he wanted to see his real smile as well.
it dawned on y/n what he was thinking. his eyebrows knit together. he couldn't possibly --he wouldn't dare-- have feelings for loki? if he didn't have full blown feelings now, they were surely growing.
y/n was brought back when he heard loki speak.
"mothe-- frigga," loki caught himself, "had just taught me to shapeshift. and i immediately knew what kind of havoc i could wreak with this ability."
somehow, y/n knew that thor was the victim.
"i knew that thor loved snakes."
                              there it is.
"and so i shapeshifted into one, and thor found me. he picked me up. and when i was in his hands, i turned back into me and i stabbed him!" loki exclaimed, smiling as his eyes sparkled.
y/n laughed. "you've got all these amazing abilities, yet you always return back to the comfort of stabbing people."
loki nodded. "stabbing is a very reliable method of injuring."
"i guess so," y/n hummed. y/n was over come with a large yawn, and he held a hand over his mouth as he did so.
"how do you still get so tired even though you've got god powers now?" loki asked.
"old habits die hard, i suppose," y/n said, standing up. loki watched him do so and stood up with him.
"i oughta hit the hay," y/n said, stretching. loki had to control himself as he watched him. the sight of y/n's body made heat flare up in loki's body.
"hay? why would you hit hay?" loki asked, oblivious.
y/n chuckled. "it's a term we use on earth when we're saying we should probably go to sleep."
loki's mouth formed an o shape and he looked down , his arms folded behind his back. "then i suppose you should rest."
y/n didn't miss the way loki looked a little sad as he said that.
"i'll visit you tomorrow, and i'll make sure i count how many times i get knocked on my ass by sif so i can tell you," y/n said.
the corner of loki's lip twitched upwards a bit, and y/n's eyes shot down to them. he zoned out as he scanned loki's features. loki just blinked at him, not knowing what to do.
y/n came to his senses, immediately looking away, scratching the back of his neck. loki felt warmth spread through his chest.
"well, goodnight, loki," y/n said, starting to walk away.
"goodnight, y/n," loki said back. he watched y/n's back as he walked away.
"y/n," he called out, and y/n turned around to look at him.
"thank you. for keeping me company, i mean," he said, and y/n smiled.
                              "of course."
y/n opened the dungeon door and let it close behind him gently. he turned to the left and saw sif standing there, looking at him with a knowing smile.
"in all the years i've known loki, i don't think he's ever opened up to someone as much as he has to you," sif said, "well, maybe except frigga."
y/n smiled widely. he was happy that he could be a friend to loki, something he didn't seem to have much of. as sif led him to the room he'd be staying in, he realized that he didn't care if loki was the god of mischief. he didn't care if was a frost giant.
he knew that loki had the room to grow and change, and that's all y/n needed to feel reassured that it was not wrong to like loki the way he did.
                              ------
"rise and shine, vidar! we have another day full of glorious sparring!" volstagg shouted, slamming the door to y/n's bedroom open.
y/n sat up, startled. he looked at volstagg with the most evil glare. he pulled the covers off of himself and walked to volstagg, looking him in the eyes. he turned and saw the other two warriors, hogun and fandral, standing behind him.
he looked back at volstagg and stared him in the eye. "my name.. is not... vidar."
                              "now, get. out."
volstagg complied, stepping back out of the room with wide eyes. y/n slammed the door on their faces and crawled back into bed, passing out immediately.
some time had passed when he was awoken again, but this time in a much more gentle manner. he felt a hand sift through his hair and his eyes cracked open to see frigga. she smiled down at him when he opened his eyes.
"good morning," she greeted, and y/n sat up and rubbed his face.
                              "good morning," he mumbled groggily.
"you won't be training with sif or the warriors three today," frigga said, and y/n looked up in confusion.
"after what happened earlier this morning, they think it's best they keep their distance for today." frigga smiled. "so you'll be with me today."
y/n's eyes glimmered and he looked at frigga excitedly. "will you teach me magic?"
frigga chuckled at his enthusiasm and nodded. y/n cheered.
frigga left the room to let y/n get ready, and he dressed himself in record time. he dashed out of the room to meet with frigga.
