3rd pov

y/n was finally able to take a satisfying shower for the first time in months. he sat under the stream of water, taking advantage of the warmth it gave. he ran both of his hands through his hair and sighed, closing his eyes as he tried to wrap his head around everything that had been happening.

his life had changed so much since loki showed up. he wondered where he'd be if loki didn't decide to try and take over new york city. probably eating sushi alone in his apartment and watching bad reality tv. that's probably something he's never going to do again, i mean, being a literal asgardian prince and an avenger doesn't really leave any time to just be.

y/n feels his heart ache at that. he'll never be able to live normally ever again. his biological dad just died, his half-sister is a tyrant, and he's stuck on a planet he's not sure he'll ever be able to get off of. it's just now dawning on him the weight of his circumstances. he could very much die at any moment, something he's been miraculously dodging for some time now. he wonders if he'll finally lose that battle one day.

he sighed and buried his head in his knees, trying to reign in the depressing thoughts that have been consuming his mind lately. he kind of wishes none of this had ever happened, that he'd gone to spain or france for his vacation instead of germany. he wouldn't be here if he had. but he wouldn't have gotten to know loki, would have never discovered what utter magnificence lied in the depths of loki's soul. he would never know what it felt like to be so emotionally and physically intimate with someone.

if he had the chance to take it all back, he doesn't think he would. despite all of the terrible things he's experienced, it wouldn't be worth losing loki over.

with a new sort of peace settling in his heart, y/n stood up and turned off the water. he wrapped a towel around his waist and slightly shivered as the water on his skin made the air seem colder. he smiled when he saw that loki had set new clothes down for him to wear. they matched with loki's— blue and yellow.

he was surprised when they felt a lot more comfortable than they looked. he decided to not wear the cape that came with it.

he stepped out of the bathroom and loki looked up from the book he was reading to meet his eyes. y/n took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, and walked to the bed that loki was laying on. he crawled onto to it and up to loki, promptly collapsing onto him exhaustedly. loki let out a small "oof" at the sudden weight falling onto his chest, which turned into an endeared chuckle.

loki closed his book gently and set it down, letting his now unoccupied hands sift through y/n's wet hair.

y/n lifted his head up and rested his chin on loki's chest. he studied loki's features and loki studied his. there was a pleasant silence, the only conversation being held was the one in their eyes.

"you're so..." y/n began, "pretty." he said, sighing with content. the hands in his hair froze as loki's face took on a more surprised expression.

"pardon?" loki asked.

y/n propped himself up on his elbows and smiled down at loki. "i said you're pretty."

loki blinked with confusion. y/n tilted his head slightly as he studied loki's expression.

"do you not like being called pretty?" y/n asked, and loki finally seemed to come back from wherever was in his mind.

"no, of course not. i actually found it rather pleasant. i've just..." loki trailed off for a moment, taking a deep breath as he thought deeply, "i've never really been called pretty of all things."

"well, you are. you're the prettiest person i've ever laid my eyes on. i mean it," y/n said.

loki chuckled a little bit, letting his eyes fall closed.

"where is this all coming from, my love?" loki asked, returning his hands to y/n's soft hair. y/n melted under the touch.

"i dunno, i just think you're pretty," y/n said.

"well," loki said, rolling over and propping himself up with his arms so that he was looking down at y/n, "i think you're the most gorgeous being in all the nine realms."

"incorrect. i'm afraid that's you, my king," y/n said, lifting his arms up and wrapping them loosely around loki's neck. loki held in a groan at the nickname. he silently cursed y/n in his mind. y/n knew exactly what he was doing.

"y/n, my love, i don't think you know what you do to me," loki said breathlessly. y/n smiled.

"i think i do," he said, pulling loki down so that he was laying on top of him, chest to chest. he could feel y/n's breath on his lips and his heart caught in his throat. he doesn't know how y/n manages to make feel this way, so utterly in love and aroused at the same time.

"are you sure you're not the god of love? because it sure seems like it," loki said, lowering his head so that their faces were impossibly close.

"for you, loki, i could be anything," y/n said. loki finally closed the gap between their lips and y/n breathed a sigh through his nose.

loki pulled away from the kiss, looking straight into y/n's eyes. "all i want you to be is mine, forever."

"i'll do you one better. i'll be yours five-ever," y/n said, smiling up at loki.

loki let out a laugh that surprised even himself. he dropped his head onto y/n's chest as giggles escaped from his mouth. he rolled off of y/n and wrapped his arms around him, pulling him into his chest.

"let's get some rest, love. we have a big day tomorrow," loki said, planting a kiss on top of y/n's head.

y/n wrapped his arms around loki tightly, and he let his eyes flutter closed. it wasn't until loki mentioned rest that he noticed just how much he needed it.

he was asleep within minutes, loki's warmth and soft touches lulling him into a deep slumber.

so guys today i watched a movie called atonement with james mcavoy and keira knightley, and like it was the most devastating movie ive ever seen in my life. im so mad and upset over the ending like besties i cried SO HARD. i definitely recommend watching it, aside from the rly sad parts i think it sends a great message.

i know this chapter didn't have a lot going on but a) it's a set up for the chapters yet to come, with the escape from sakaar and everything else and b) i want to make up for the time y/n and loki lost together

as always i hope u enjoyed :)) thank you for reading
