song: Soldier's Poem - Muse
3rd pov
Loki was led into the dungeons by odin's guards, and he sighed as he heard the agonized cries of y/n. he yelled as he threw his fist into the orange wall of energy, his fist just bouncing off.
he and loki made eye contact as loki passed. y/n had a sort of crazed look in his eyes, but more distraught than anything else. his cheeks were stained with tears and his eyes were bloodshot. his eyes softened when he saw loki, and the god turned away, looking forward again as he was put into the cell beside y/n.
y/n was back to punching the force field, his hands covered in red and purple bruises from the constant impact.
loki sat calmly in the chair in the cell, whereas y/n was throwing the chair at the forcefield, trying with all his might to escape.
it went on for hours, and loki used his magic to mute the man in the cell beside him. loki sat, contemplating.
y/n was vidar. god of vengeance. he grew up almost mortal on midgard for the first 23 years of his life, only find out that he isn't even from there. and when he returns to his true home he is rejected and thrown into a cell.
loki pitied the boy, understanding what it felt like to be lied to about who you are. being raised where you don't belong as someone you aren't. loki sighed and looked down at his hands in his lap.
he felt the vibrations from y/n hitting the force field stop, and unmuted him to hear that he was heavily panting. he heard something hit the floor, and he assumed it y/n. he listened as y/n regained his breath, now just laying silently on the floor of the cell.
y/n stared blankly at the ceiling, his body now too heavy to move, and his eyes too dry to cry anymore. his throat ached from all of the screaming and crying, and his hands were now bloody and bruised. the simple white chair that was placed in the room was broken into pieces and scattered across the room.
"are you finally done?" loki asked, standing up and moving to sit against the wall separating him and y/n. y/n moved to lean against the wall.
"i'm going to try again tomorrow." y/n ran his fingers over his swollen and bloody knuckles.
"it's no use. not even i can break them," loki said, both annoyed and impressed by y/n's determination.
"i don't care. i want odin to pay."
loki laughed. "get in line."
that was the end of their conversation, they just sat against the wall in silence. loki could feel y/n's presence from behind the wall, but he wasn't sure if y/n could feel his.
frigga visited loki frequently, bringing him things to make his stay in his cell a little more comfortable. y/n took to sleeping, catching up on much needed rest. frigga spared the naïve god sorrowful glances, thinking of his imprisonment unfair.
she saw how his eyes were red and puffy, how tears had dried onto to his cheeks. she entered his cell, wiping away the tears. she saw his injured hands and healed them. y/n slept through it all, not even flinching at the goddess's touch.
when he awoke, frigga was there sitting next him in a new chair that she had brought. he sat up quickly, and backed away from the goddess, his back hitting the wall. loki looked up from his book and furrowed his eyebrows as he heard the noise.
"relax child, i'm not here to hurt you," frigga said calmly, raising her hand to y/n. loki shut his book and listened in closely, being the nosy god that he is.
y/n knew who she was, but was weary because she had no reason to be there.
"why are you here?" y/n croaked, his voice still hoarse.
