"i'm assuming you're familiar with the grandmaster?" loki asked.
he and y/n were now walking down the hallways of the infirmary, not having to worry about guards stopping them. they knew who loki was.
                              "painfully," y/n said, glaring forward.
loki took a deep breath, trying not to let the guilt eat him alive.
"if i had known he had you— if i had known you were even here on sakaar, i never would have l—"
"i know, loki. i don't blame you. no one does," y/n said, turning to look at loki.
loki looked into y/n's eyes, searching for anything that told him he was lying. he found nothing but sincerity. that didn't stop him from feeling guilty, though, and y/n knew this. y/n sighed, but decided not to say anything.
y/n brushed his fingers along the back of loki's hand and loki intertwined his fingers with y/n's.
"i'll get us out of here tomorrow," loki said, squeezing y/n's hand in his, "you needn't worry about the grandmaster, he won't come after you."
"are you guys friends or something?" y/n asked, turning to look at loki. loki inhaled deeply and kept his gaze forward.
"i suppose, but it's a bit one sided. i can't stand him. every moment with him i have to resist the urge to take his neck and cr--"
loki cut himself off when he noticed the half-shocked, half-amused expression on y/n's face. loki composed himself and cleared his throat.
"he's quite the uh... eccentric character," loki finally said.
y/n let out an airy laugh and shook his head.
"at least i don't have to pretend to enjoy his company, that seems awful. true torture," he said.
                              loki groaned. "oh, it is."
despite the conversation, loki's heart was fluttering in his chest. it felt as if it was doing backflips and summersaults. he was so happy to finally be back in the presence of y/n, soaking in his warmth and love.
"i suppose you know thor is here as well?" loki asked, remembering his oaf brother.
"i actually found out he was here today, before he went out to fight the hulk," y/n said, having to hold in a snicker at the way loki shivered at the mention of the hulk's name.
"i saw him, but he was too busy being angry and yelling at everyone to notice me," y/n continued, shrugging.
"what an oaf." loki shook his head.
"i can't blame him, everyone here is insufferable. well, except for korg. he's pretty okay," y/n said, and loki nodded along pretending to know who korg is.
they finally made it out of the labyrinth of an infirmary. y/n let loki guide them through the halls back to where he was staying, as he wasn't familiar with the layout. he'd never been outside of the prisoner area the entire two months he'd been there.
"how long ago did you arrive here, loki?" y/n asked. loki looked up in thought and hummed.
"almost a month now. what about you?" loki asked.
"two months, i think," y/n said.
"how strange. i wasn't thrown out of the bifrost much later than you were, neither was thor," loki said, "i remember the grandmaster saying something about how time passes differently here, but i'm sure he said something weird afterwards that made me subconsciously bury that memory somewhere i'd never find it."
