song: fantasy (feat. ol' dirty bastard) - mariah carey
3rd pov
"yeah... uh, can i get 10 of the chuck norris rolls? but replace the salmon with tuna, and 5 california rolls," y/n said, pointing at the small menu in front of him.
"alright, will that be all?" the waiter asked, and y/n nodded with a smile. the waiter let his eyes linger on y/n for a little longer before he disappeared around the corner.
"what is a chuck norris?" loki asked, and y/n laughed out loud. loki just furrowed his eyebrows, not knowing what was so funny. he asked a genuine question
"he's a famous actor, he makes for really funny jokes, too," y/n said. loki just stared blankly.
"what kind of jokes?" loki asked. and y/n sat back in his seat as he thought for a moment.
y/n was laughing before he even told the joke. "death once had a near-chuck-norris experience."
loki just watched y/n cackle to himself, still not understanding the joke. y/n stopped giggling when he realized he was the only one doing it. he cleared his throat and fiddled with his fingers.
"tell me another one," loki said, wanting to hear his laugh again. y/n looked at him before smiling.
"chuck norris makes onions cry," y/n laughed, tears in his eyes. loki smiled, chuckling a tiny bit at y/n's contagious laughter.
y/n had just calmed down when the waiter returned with two plates full of sushi. y/n ogled the sushi, while the waiter ogled y/n. loki glared at the waiter, not liking the way he was looking at y/n.
"do you need anything while i'm here?" the waiter asked. "maybe... my number?"
y/n blinked, processing what was just said to him. he chuckled awkwardly.
"we're already lovers, so he's not on the market at the moment," loki said, smiling mockingly at the waiter. y/n's mouth fell open.
the waiter stiffened, his cheeks growing red.
"that's too bad. if you ever feel like it though," the waiter slid a small paper to y/n with his number on it, "call me."
the waiter walked away with not a moment to spare. y/n just stared at loki.
"what? i saved you, didn't i?" loki asked. y/n frowned.
"i didn't need saving. and what if i did want his number and you just ruined my chances?" y/n said, and loki looked away from y/n's gaze. he stared holes into the ground. y/n sighed.
"i guess it was for the best, he didn't seem all that good anyways," y/n said, picking up chopsticks and picking up a sushi roll. he held up to loki's face and stared at him expectantly.
loki raised his eyebrows. "what do you want me to do with it?"
"eat it, you dummy!" y/n said, and loki slightly grumbled at the name, but raised his hand take the roll out from between the chopsticks. y/n pulled it away before loki could grab it.
"just eat it off the chopsticks, you weirdo," y/n said, putting it back in front of loki, who stared at him weirdly. y/n waved the sushi and raised his eyebrows.
loki rolled his eyes and chomped down onto the sushi. he held a quizzical expression. he hummed lowly as he swallowed.
"it's rather divine, actually. something the midgardians have actually gotten correct for once," loki said. y/n rolled his eyes but smiled.
"i know, it's positively scrum-diddley-umptious," he said, picking up a roll with his chopsticks and eating a roll.
"although, the sushi here in new york doesn't even compare to the sushi in japan. that stuff is on a whole 'nother level," y/n said talking with his mouth full, something loki usually disliked, but strangely found endearing in y/n.
together they both ate 14 rolls, and argued about who got last roll.
"it's your first time having sushi, loki, you eat it," y/n begged.
"no. you paid for the meal, it's your right to eat the roll," loki retorted, folding his arms and turning away form the sushi.
"i refuse." y/n folded his arms and turned away from the sushi as well.
"perfect! i'll eat it then," a random old man said, grabbing the roll off of the plate and eating it. y/n and loki just gaped at the old man. he chewed and cackled, putting on his sunglasses and hobbling out of the restaurant.
y/n and loki just stared at the door the old man left through, unblinking.
"one mortal life is nothing, it won't matter if i just take his throat and squeeze," loki said, standing up quickly.
"loki!" y/n said, pulling on loki's arm and sitting him back down in the chair.
"no killing of any mortals allowed," y/n ordered. loki huffed.
"i wasn't actually going to do it," loki whined, slumping in his chair. y/n just laughed airily and stood up, taking the number the waiter had given him and rolling it in a $20 bill. he grabbed another 50 and put it on the table, hoping it would cover the bill of their sushi.
he held out a hand to loki who took it quickly, and he helped him out of his seat. loki could feel heat rising to his cheeks when y/n didn't let go of his hand. they left the restaurant hand in hand with goofy smiles and giddy hearts.
when they arrived home, y/n went and hopped in the shower, and loki took to reading quietly in his bedroom. loki didn't know how long he'd been reading for, but when he finally left his bedroom, y/n was nowhere.
loki began to feel worried, although he knew that y/n was probably fine. even though he really didn't want to, he stepped into the elevator and told jarvis to go to the main floor where most of the avengers usually resided.
nobody heard the elevator ding apparently, because no one looked up when he arrived. they seemed to be in a deep conversation. y/n was there too, leaning against the counter and sipping on water.
"i don't know about loki being here, i've been on edge the whole time," clint said. loki quickly moved to hide behind the wall, eavesdropping in on the conversation about him.
"yeah, it's weird that he hasn't tried anything," tony agreed.
"i told you guys, my brother is here to be good. why would he try anything?" thor said, his voice raising a bit.
"i don't know, maybe it's because it's loki we're talking about? he's gotta have something up his sleeve," tony said.
the avengers continued to voice their distrust in loki, even throwing in unnecessary mea n comments. it made loki angry, but also sad. as much as he didn't show it, comments like that really did get to him.
loki flinched in surprise when he heard something slam down onto the counter. he heard y/n sigh angrily.
"how is he supposed to change if you're always going to treat him like he's evil? he's here because he believes that he can be good. you guys make it pretty damn hard when you treat him like shit." y/n said bitterly.
"if you actually took the time to get to know him, you'd find that he's actually really pleasant to be around, but you're all assholes," y/n said. heavy footsteps approached and y/n turned the corner, slightly gasping in surprise to see loki standing there.
his gaze softened when he saw loki's glassy eyes. y/n patted loki's shoulder and pulled him along to the elevator.
"jarvis, my floor, please," he said.
"right away, sir," jarvis said, the elevator doors opening.
y/n and loki stepped in, and when the doors closed, y/n wrapped loki in a hug. loki wrapped his arms around y/n without hesitation this time.
mostly a fluffy chapter with a lil drama at the end :) hope you enjoyed
