Chapter 16: Survivors

"Pass me the bandage"

Hiroto said as he knelt on the ground while Seako and Shizuka were both leaning against the wall. Watching him what he was doing out of curiosity.

"What are you doing?"

Saeko asked as Shizuka passed him the bandage. Making place a thick magazine in his left arm and secured it with the bondage, causing both of them to look at him in confusion.

"A little protection to avoid making their teeth sink into my skin. I want to do a little experiment with them after all. Don't mind it too much"

He said before he wore his fingerless gloves on his hand and strapping the pocket knife on his leg. Making him stand up as soon as he was done before he looked peaked and looked around outside the classroom.

"Shizuka-san, do you have your car outside?"

He asked, causing her to shake her head to the side.

"I don't... but there are a lot of buses on the school ground"

She said as the three of them walked out of the classroom. Making Hiroto glance at her direction.

"Can you drive it?"

"I-I think so..."

She said as she placed her finger on her lips. Making Hiroto nod his head as he intently listened for any groans close to them. Looking around with a cautious expression on his face.

"Then, where are the bus keys?"

"I-It's in the staff room..."

She said. Making Hiroto look at Saeko who was looking at the opposite direction. Securing the area to avoid getting ambushed by them.

"So we have to cross to the other building..."

He said as Saeko lead the way. Making both Hiroto and Shizuka, who was carrying a medicine box in her hand, to follow her from behind.

"Stay behind us, Shizuka-san"

He said as they both took the lead. Making Shizuka quicken her pace to catch up to them, but was a bit slow due to her tight skirt.

"What are your next plans after this, Kirishima?"

She asked as Hiroto pushed away a zombie walking towards him with his bat and kicking him towards the wall.

"Find other survivors and get out of this place... Though, I doubt that the outside of school is much safer than here. We can't stay here for far too long since we don't have any food or water supply. We'll just starve to death if we stayed here... and we'll increase our chances of surviving when moving as a group"

He said before he swung his bst upwards. Hitting a zombie by the chin, causing it to fall backwards befote he swatted its body to the side. Pushing it away from their path.

"C-Can't you just kill them? You we're doing so well before..."

She asked as she watch Saeko push away a zombie towards the window at their side with his wooden sword.

"Killing them everytime we meet one will only slow us down. We can't waste too much time on one location to avoid getting outnumbered or surrounded"

He explained as they arrived in the entrance to the bridge connecting to the other building. Making both Saeko and Hiroto to pause in their tracks before they cautiously looked around.

"I can handle one or two, and if I could kill them, I would've done so, but they're a lot stronger than they look. If they managed to get a grip on you. It's hard to break free from them. That's why we can't risk fighting dozens of them at once"
