Chapter 21: Hiroto Snapped

"... You have been out of it for a while. What's wrong with you?"

Rei said while looking at Hiroto who stopped in front of an abandoned flower shop. Making Saeko look at him in worry, seeing how he was dazedly staring at the thin air before he pressed the bridge of his nose with his fingers.

"I'm a bit exhausted... Let's rest here for the night..."

He said before he stood up and moved towards the ruined hotel next to it. Making both of the girls to look at each other before they agreed with his decision. It's dangerous to have him drive in his current condition.

"You girls go ahead and take the bag with you... I'll stay here to have some fresh for a few minutes"

Hiroto said, causing Rei to hesitate to come in. Feeling a bit worried about him due to his weird actions on the past few hours. Making Saeko hold her arm as she shook her head to the side. Telling her that it was best to leave him alone.

"... Fine..."

She said before glancing at Hiroto once last time.  Making her see the complicated expression that was on his face. Mixed with a different variety of contradicting emotions.

"I'll meet you girls later"

He said ss he sat down on he ground with his back leaning against the fence in front of the hotel. Watching as they enter inside the building.

'... System... what the hell is happening to me?'

Hiroto said as he looked at his trembling right arm. Wondering why his body was reacting like this when his mind felt nothing from killing the man. Feeling irritation to swept in his body as he felt like he couldn't control his own body.

[Host... You're just confused right now]

The system answered as Hiroto clench his hand and read the words that suddenly appeared in front of him.

'confused... what do you mean by that?'

[It's a bit of a long story... since you are not even aware of your mental state before you even got the system]

The system said. Making Hiroto narrow his eyes while looking at the system.

'... What do you mean by that...'

So that you wouldn't hesitate to kill them... but the feeling of hitting them is different from the game. That's why you felt excitement in your first kill, but not sympathy nor any other similar emotions since you didn't see them as human]

The system explained. Watching as Hiroto take in the information with a dark expression on his face.
